As you can see for yourself in the news post:

So how does it work?

Well, like any writing contest really. Basically, anyone can sign up for Gaming Reinvented and write an article, review, guide or interview relating to gaming. Then, these submissions will be judged and the best one will win the author 200 dollars worth of games of their choice.

If you're a good writer and fancy yourself as a video game journalist, this could be quite the cool way to both build your CV and potentially get a ton of free games out of it too.

Go ahead and enter on the Gaming Reinvented website!

I'm definitely entering, I just want to get a bit of clarification-- How are article rules applied here? I was considered writing something of a thinkpiece article, which would be a bit of an analysis on Horror in games, and would require me to do a bit of 1st person pronoun-ing. It would still be very official, use various sources and examples, it'd just be more.... interactive, I would say?

I took journalism classes in HS and know there's a big thing with articles, so I just wanted to make sure.

It's all fine.

The only rules for articles are that they shouldn't be stolen from anyone else, and that they should be about video games in some way.

Your article is about horror games, and can be entered in this contest.

You don't need to be premium member to enter the contest, do you?

No. Just sign up and post the article. Becoming a premium member is really helpful for the site's finances (and hence I'd advise a lot of people here do so), but the contest is 100% free to anyone who joins. Don't even need to post anything on the forum or anything else.

Only other thing you might need to do is provide a list of games you want to receive if you win.

On the contest description you mention that grammatical errors will mean a deduction in points.
As an Australian I write in British/Australian English, so the spelling differences will be properly acknowledged, right?

For example:

aesthetic/esthetic
apologise/apologize
calibre/caliber
valour/valor

Yeah, I'm fine with any form of English. I know that British/Australian English is different, since I'm from the UK myself.

So when you enter, you won't need to worry about that. Besides, I'm mostly worried about massive, easily noticeable issues, so even a fairly small, actual mistake wouldn't result in lost points.

It's not a huge thing. If your article concept is unique and interesting, then you're still in with a chance.

Remember, we're looking mostly for good, interesting articles, not ones with perfect spelling and grammar.

Well, it started on the 4th of July.

But here is the short version : When I said "Fuck this contest" I didn't want it to come off as me saying it's a bad contest, but me saying I'll lose a lot of points. So I didn't want to risk editing the post and taking so long so I just wrote a new message. With any other user I would take the time to edit, but this is the mod we're talking about! The king of the forums.

Well, we're still going here.

And eh, frantic posting isn't bad, if it's good quality posting. If you're posting an endless number of posts about Wario Land/WarioWare/gaming, who am I to stop you?
