So, where is Diamond City anyway?

CM30

Diamond City Mayor
Diamond City Leader
I've always assumed it's in the Mushroom World for obvious reasons, but where exactly in the world is it?

And more interestingly, where is it in comparison to the locations from the platformers? I mean, it's obvious that Wario's House from Master of Disguise and Shake It is likely the one in Diamond City, and it's also fairly likely that the city from Wario Land 4's intro is the same place (indicating that the Golden Pyramid is within driving distance). But what about the other games?

Where's Kitchen Island, the Wario Land II locales, the Awazon Jungle or the forest from Wario Land 3's opening in comparison to Diamond City?

Also, do you think the temple Mona explores in DIY might be near some of the Wario Land locales?

It's obviously somewhere between West and Tomorrow.

No, seriously how could you tell? It's not like the Mario...."planet" ever had a map of any kind.
And it's not like the geography in those games is very consistent anyway.
Heck, Peach's castle is located wherever it needs to be.
Sometimes it's on a hill, sometimes it's in a valley, sometimes it's behind toad town, sometimes there's a lake and river near it, sometimes not. Sometimes it's even on an island.
I mean just compare these two maps (from the same series, mind you).

Where did the thwomp volcano or the desert go? And bowsers castle is now suddenly on the other side?

Don't even bother comparing that to other series like Paper Mario.

I would imagine a lot of the areas Wario traverses are within the same region...for instance, I always imagined Diamond City being rather close to Kitchen Island.

Regardless, It's pretty far from the Mushroom Kingdom. Which, perhaps, is a good thing for everyone.

I also think that Diamond City isn't near the Mushroom Kingdom. The main population seem to be humans in the city while the kingdom has Toads.

Kitchen Island is also not near Diamond City in my opinion. Wario probably just figured out where it is and decided to go there.

The Awazon Jungle is probably a location far away where Wario decided to look for treasures based on a rumor he heard.

Where locations are are never consistent, but the locations themselves are. Peach will always have a red roofed castle, Mario and Luigi will always live in a humble home. Where those plaves are very from game to game but those placss are consistent... More consistent than they used to be. Remember when Mario lived in a castle? That sure isn't true anymore.

As for Wario, starting with Wario Land 4 he's consistently lived in an urban environment, and now we know it's Diamond City. Where Diamond City is probably doesn't matter. But we know it doesn't have any Toad inhabitants, so it's gotta be really far from the Mushroom Kingdom, like Isle Delfino is.

My personal & also really stupid headcanon location is Sea Side (Also known as Water Land) from SMB3 because i imagine Sea Side having a very Japanese influence. (some of the islands do actually resemble Japan) and considering that diamond city has a massive Japanese influence, Plus the fact that it's set on a island like a lot of Sea Side, it kinda makes sense. (At least In my mind anyway.) i also imagine Toad Harbor from MK8 being in the same location as Diamond City as well, just in two different areas, Considering that both cities resemble San Francisco & also the overall connection & history between California & Japan in general.

Me: "It's in your heart, you just have to believe!"

Blue: "But how can I get there?"

Me: "Well, it's the second star on the right!"

Blue: "In the sky?! But I can't fly!"

Me: "You can, if you believe in it and with a bit of fairy dust!"

Wario pops out of the closet: "Glad to know! WHAHAHAHA!"

Probably just outside of the borders of mushroom kingdom.
Also just a theory, in Twisted you can see on the map its an island, what if wario remodeled kitchen island, unlikely but it would explain alot.
But seriously i think its just out of reach of the mushroom kingdom's cheep cheep sea.

Well, there is that city in Wario Land II. Maybe that has something to do with Diamond City? It certainly seems to exist near Kitchen Island if that's the case...
