So, should I upgrade the site to XenForo 2 at some point?

It's in testing now, and looks something like this:

https://xenforo.com/community/

As you can see, it's not too different from XenForo 1, but it's newer looking none the less.

However, I myself am not too convinced by it all. Yeah it's somewhat decent looking, and it'll probably be solid on a coding level.

But it doesn't really add many new features or what not. They do exist (including a new post editor and a few easy ways to customise the nav bar), they're just not all that interesting to look at. Here's the topic on the official site about that one:

https://xf2demo.xenforo.com/threads/whats-new-in-xenforo-2.114/

So XenForo 2 is one option, and perhaps the 'safe' one if we decide to stick with this software for the foreseeable future.

However at the same time I'm also kind of interested in IPB 4 as well. That one does look significantly different from previous versions, and even includes some of the features we've added as XenForo plugins as default. Here's a preview for that software:

As well as a list of its features:

So what do you think we should do? Should we stick with the XenForo version we've got, upgrade to XenForo 2 when it's released or move to IPB 4?

Post your thoughts below, or vote in the poll now!

Honestly I'm of the belief that everything is fine as-is...if it ain't broke don't fix it, I always say.
But I'd also be fine with any of these, leaning a little towards XenForo 2 as IPB 4 looks a bit obnoxious

I like the current format and would probably lean more towards an upgraded Xenforo if there are more substantial benefits in the near future.

I'd say stick with the current model however i am very much interested in Xenforo 2 but their isn't enough new stuff to warrant the change but do keep an eye on it because it IS in testing and a substantial improvement on the good formula would make me excited to see a change.

IPB 4 has good content but its just all over the place, Its a big flustercuck of stuff. I'm sure its good but i don't wanna take the time to figure out the radical layout (okay maybe i'm exaggerating the layout)

So far I have two votes for sticking with XenForo 1 and one each for the other two options.

Come on everyone, vote if you want to have your say!

I am a little worried though. That we'll never end up bringing in a new audience because we're so concerned about not changing anything in case it upsets the existing one.

Eventually there will be a time where it'll be good idea for a upgrade. (Maybe in let's say a couple of years from now.) as Xenforo 1, like all software, will eventually become outdated. however, I don't think it's really necessary right now, as the current software we have seems to be doing just fine.

Do people really join a forum because of its layout and features? I mean a crappy or outdated layout will deter people away certainly but I doubt a new layout and amazing features on their own will create much of an upswing of activity.
The problem is the size of the fanbase and how incredibly stagnant the Wario series has been as of late.

Either way, I think everyone needs to consider that none of these scripts would look quite like that on this site.

Wario Forums isn't an 'unedited' XenForo 1.5 installation afterall... So the colours and images from this version would remain on a XenForo 2 or IPB 4 version of the site.
