Donkey Kong Series

Ah, the Donkey Kong series.

I haven't played much of the classic games, aside from the arcade original which was included with DK64 for easy nostalgia. There was Mario Vs. Donkey Kong which I played on the 3DS' ambassador selection, but other than that, the classic games don't interest me that much.

However, the Country series, or rather the 'Rareware' era of DK games is what I truly love the most about the series aside from Wario. The SNES trilogy of games has some of the best music, overall difficulty and gimmick-themed stages that I look fondly back on the series. My personal favorite out of the bunch being 2 for it's fantastic music, especially Stickerbrush Symphony, but dang it, the Animal Antics stage was so brutal!

I also agree with Metal there that I'm one of the few people out there who actually enjoyed DK64 despite the massive backtracking you have to do frequently as every Kong for all of the small banana's. It still had some charm to it and I liked the Returns revival of the series as well. At least Donkey Kong still has some relevance these days, which I appreciate, but I'll always think back on the Rare era fondly.

I wish Funky filled in for DK for one game.

Yap, Im sure thats what Rare was thinking when they came up with Donkey Kong.

"How can we get more women into science?"

Banjo-Kazooie too, totally. Its absolutely not a proven formula of cute animals + side scrolling platformer game = sales, no : p

Whats with you and these weirdos trying to turn video games into social justice issues? : p
