Y'know, I'd never been into wrestling and didn't really understand the appeal of it for many years.
Then one day it hit me--it's basically theater. Theater with crazy stunts and mock-fighting. That's pretty cool. Couple that with the genuinely outrageous and hilarious plotlines and the larger-than-life characters, and you're in for a pretty good time. Some people say "it sucks because it isn't real" but "being real" isn't the point of it...they're putting on a show. It's entertainment. Besides, all the stunts are real--and some of them are damn cool. These guys are super impressive at what they do.

Anyways I just wanted to come in here and share my appreciation for something that I used to think was lame but now think is pretty cool.

Carry on!

Haha, yeah? Like what? Id like to hear about it : p

Btw, hypothetical question. Lets say Steve Austin and Goldberg finally had their dream match. Who would you guys cheer for/ think should win?
I was originally studying kliq guys like Shawn Michaels, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash though I've been getting away from that since I don't think it'd fit what I want my character to be. I haven't really been studying as of late so been a bit directionless.

As for that dream match...I'm not sure who I'd really cheer for or want to win. I'd just want them to have a fun, short, intense match which in their primes I'm sure they would've pulled off like with what the final Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg match would end up being.

Theyd make a really fun match up, they both have their own unique personality, wrestling style and signature moves. Steve Austin is definitely better when it comes to mic personality. Goldberg isnt terrible of course but its not as big or as well known as Austins. But I do think that Goldberg has a more interesting wrestling style, as I feel that the moves Goldberg does (like the spear and jackhammer) are more believable than the stunner, haha.

I feel like Id want Goldberg to win, but thats only cuz Id imagine the match taking place at WWE, and Austin has already been the top performer there, and Id like to see Goldberg have the spotlight for a time there : p If it were with any other show, Id still probly want Goldberg to win but I wouldnt feel as strongly about it Im sure : p

And what kind of character do you have in mind @Magma?

A lot of dream matches are pretty context sensitive when it comes to wrestling so that's what makes it really hard to really pinpoint a good time. Although Goldberg is much older and more limited now he actually had improved on his talking and was pretty solid on the microphone during his last run in WWE.

I haven't really developed it much since I think I need to step into a ring and start training but I've been thinking of being able to be fiery underdog or a complete coward bad guy.

I wonder how big his hands are. I mean hes a very big guy but I wonder if his hands match up with the rest of his body : p

Aw, wow. What a bummer. That was like his signature, am shocked.

And the new tattoo doesnt even look that cool, is too busy : (

Im not really sure what the point of this is? I mean its gonna be a WWE show with WWE performers. In what way is this Starrcade? Thats really stupid, imo. Just a cash grab for wrestling fans of the 80s-90s. Sorta like when they brought back ECW but it was just another WWE show.

They should just let these shows fade away into history.

So there were rumors about the Rock running for President of the United States lately, and while he has not actually officially announced that he was going to do so, it appears that he has expressed interest in the past, and has said not to "rule it out".

http://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/11/dwayne-johnson-rock-running-president-2020

I found other articles where he expressed interest as well, but that was the shortest and easiest to read that I had found : p

And hes a member of the Republican party? That surprised me : p It seems like almost every major pro wrestler is a conservative, haha.
And thats probly a good thing imo, it could mean hes on a nice and even ground with his political opinions. But it also probly means that if he did run, his opposition would go out of its way to paint him as some major racist : p

Would be interesting though, just hearing this makes me want to hear what he thinks about junk.

It would be awesome if you did : p But I dont like actually watch modern day wrestling, haha. I mean like I dont think anyone here does : p But if you enjoy wrestling from the past, this is a good place to talk about it : p

Aside from childhood I'm surprised there's a lot of things I like that have some wrestling stuff in them. I'm not really good at understanding wrestling much but I thought these two things were cool things to name since lately I've been interested in comics. Watching or rewatching the older Batman films, after watching Christopher Nolan's dark knight trilogy, kind of interesting to find out in Batman and Robin the actor who played Bane was an actual professional wrestler. One that @Magma brought up before. Dunno much about him aside from his head looking like a thumb but his name is Jeep Swenson, apparently they didn't even need to give him any kind of extra padding they just colored in his muscles p intimidating my dudes.

Another cool thing also is that I read a lot of manga and there have been manga based on wrestling. One I found out just recently is called Lock Up. Can follow the link up there that I posted, dunno much about it aside from the dude seemingly taking his appearance from Abdullah the Butcher, has his head scars too.

The camera work in this promo is kinda nauseating (maybe it's just the diesel fumes), but I found it amusing the way the video just cuts off at the climax of Big Daddy Cool's conviction...

Is that the actual video? Did they really cut off at that time?

Also, Kevin Nash was a good looking guy for a pro-wrestler : p Most wrestlers at that time looked... alot different : p Wonder if his looks (outside of being huge) had anything to do with him being picked by promoters.

@Angler of Lake Asparagus a strong contender along with modern WWE camera work for some of the worst camera work ever.

@MonaWare him being good looking was just a bonus as he had everything else Vince wants in a top star

Holy mackerel... The way it ducks and zooms with every strike, to make it look more impressive/exciting... It's like it was shot by an over-stimulated 13-year-old.

Its like theyre trying to make it look more unbelievable : p Thats pretty silly, can see why people would hate it, haha.
