Rhythm Heaven!

Shantae needs to cameo in this series. It's perfect for her, she's a magical belly-dancer!

Plus she cameo'd in WarioWare that one time

So I recently bought an imported copy of Rhythm Tengoku and I was asked which one my favourite stage is.
My response turned out longer than expected so I'll post it here. XP

Not sure which one is my favourite but....
I really, really love remix 3. Mainly for the music. Same with Remix 5.
I love March Hares for the absurdity of it (I don't know if it's called that but if not it should because that's the perfect pun!).
Cosmo dance is great (perfected it in one try S^^).
Quiz Show can suck a black one for wasting a slot and not even being rhythm based.
Rap Women is great too. I love Bunny Hop... Tram & Pauline is really fun... and of course, nothing beats Remix in terms of memorability.
I still remember seeing remix 6 online a loooong time ago and I wanted to play it so bad! Of course, I never could. And the latency on emulators ruined the gameplay.
Hm...

Thing is, the game suffered from quite a bit of early game weirdness. And some microgames are just not much fun...
I don't think toss boys (and girl. ...or maybe it's a crossdresser *shrugs*) should've gotten a level 2. And Karate Man 2 and Spaceball 2 are just tempo variations of the same song which is unfortunate... Hopping Road 2 is the same song... same for Night Walk 2.

Dang, this turned more critical than I expected... but I still love the game. And I'm so disappointed that neither Rap Men (and/or Women) nor Bon Odori got into Megamix. :(
They have like a billion extra games from Fever you can buy but only three from Tengoku (AND ONE OF THEM IS FRICKIN QUIZ SHOW AGAIN! MOTHERFUCK!). *sigh* I guess they didn't have to remake any art assets from Fever so they got as many games in there as they could. Lazy buggers. >_>

That's a cute touch, it's nice that they know that people miss WarioWare and it's characters and throw us a bone with these remix stages.
Just to be clear, these aren't remixes. They are challenges, a new addition to the series, where you have to clear one stage after another under certain conditions.

At this point I think the Wario series should be handled by another team. I like Rhythm Heaven because its cute, but thats the problem. Wario and his series should NOT be cute. Sure they can have a few cute things here and there but overall the series should reflect Wario himself. Strange, frantic, and mean.

Game & Wario's stylistic shift has shown me that these developers cannot help but move Wario in the same stylistic direction as RH. If that's the case, I do not want Wario in the hands of these guys.

If I could choose someone to handle Wario it would either be Platinum Games or Retro Studio. Maybe Next Level Games too.

I didn't think was anything particularly strange, frantic or mean about characters like Kat,Ana, or Spitz

Dribble and Spitz are scifi obsessed taxi drivers who pickup mermaids and things.

Kat and Ana? Yeah. They're pretty much just cuties. Not that interesting.

Well on another note while Game and Wario was rather bland overall gameplay wise at least the title screens of each game retain that usual quirkiness

So this was actually an answer to Juan Schwartz's question which game to start the Rhythm Heaven franchise with and a comment on pjparadox's post about his favorite minigame. It became a bit long so I decided to post it here instead.

@Juan Schwartz The best game to start with would be Megamix. The minigames at the start are really easy so they're great for newcomers to come in. It also has minigames from all of the Rhythm Heaven games (108 minigames in total) which includes almost every minigame from the Wii version. It's a celebration of the series (10th anniversary tomorrow!) and only costs 30 dollars plus it has dual language options (Japanese and English). All in all it's the best because it has the most content.

The second best option would be Rhythm Heaven DS because it's cheap and the best of the first three games (imo). It also has a really fun unique control scheme compared to the others (you hold the DS sideways). I didn't consider the GBA and Wii version because the former is hard to get legally anywhere but Japan and all but 4 minigames from the Wii version are in Megamix. Hope you have fun with whatever one you start with.

@pjparadox yeah the Machine Remix is pretty cool (that's what you're talking about right?). Too bad they didn't have enough budget to create an English version of the song. The English songs in the Wii version are really great so I was expecting a lot but alas. At least the Japanese songs are quiet great, something I wouldn't say about the ones in the Wii and DS version.

My favorite minigame in the whole series would be Karate Man Combos! When I played that for the first time in Fever I was blown by how good it was. If it didn't exist I don't think I would've ever become the Rhythm Heaven dork I am now. It's the last minigame in the shop in Megamix if you want to try it :)

Hey, are you enjoying RH Megamix? I can't buy it yet, but I surely will get my hands on it!

@ShyGuyXXL, you requested this song?

I won't flud this thread with my stuff, don't worry. I just thought it was appropriate! :p
