Should Wario be playable in a Mario Platformer title again...?

...HEY let's look at the bright side! In a way the characters weren't added because they got unique features and they didn't wanna strip them down of these for the sake of a silly generic title uwu

...replace "fart attack" for "shoulder barge" and this is actually uh, good. Yeah.

Godammit Miyamoto I respect you but you're fuckin up big time.

This has been the community's growing sentiment in general for a while now

@Angler of Lake Asparagus Wario farted in Mario Strikers Charged too.

Yeah, but what folks fail to mention is that Brawl and Strikers Charged were in development at the same time (so was Shake Dimension, but not a fart was given in that game, and it's an actual Wario game).

That says a lot about outside use and interpretations of the character, regardless of how Japan markets him as a gross "poop-eater".

Pretty much anyone's exposure to Wario these days is from a Mario game. I don't really mind Wario being in these games, I just want to see him in SOMETHING.

I still say that Shake It being made at all was a miracle in itself. And that team is now a bunch of yarnheads.

Right. It was a miracle. The only reason it exists is because one old member of R&D1's staff (Takahiro Harada) had "always wanted to do a Wario Land sequel". After being impressed with a random DS platformer he approached the newly formed studio, Goodfeel, to take on the game.

I was always under the impression that it was some random ding-dong at Good-Feel who said that.

NOOOOO. Takahiro Harada was a very important member. He was the puzzle game mastermind at R&D1, creating Dr. Mario (with Gunpei Yokoi) along with Tetris Attack, Wario's Woods etc. He was also the main programmer of Super Mario Land 2.

So why'd he have to go to Good-Feel for it again? Because SPD1 (R&D1) was unable to make those kinds of games, or just still busy with WarioWare, or what?

Nobody in SPD1 worked on Wario Land in the glory days. WL4 is as far back as they go with that series (especially Sakamoto and Goro Abe). They prefer wacky experimental sub-games, apparently.

We need a company that has the edginess to make a Wario Land game. Good-Feel seems to make things cute and easygoing, which Wario Land shouldn't be.

I wouldn't mind if say Platinum Games made a Wario Land game. They seem to be good at making over-the-top ridiculous action games.

As long as there's enough interest to be generated in that team for it. That seems to be another challenge for this series.

Heck, I'm also curious if Platinum will ever be able to make another Star Fox.

katsuya yamano and takehiko hosokawa

also I totally expact a platinum wario gaem to turn out like their TMNT abortion

Yeah, that was ignorant of me. I don't know every last member on SPD1 or their complete history, but as far as we can gather, SPD1 as a whole has no interest in doing those sorts of games. Harada doesn't even mention them in any interviews I've read with him.
