Super Mario Odyssey's reception

Some people are acting just like Sonic fans right now...

Not sure where you're looking, but most Mario fans I've seen really like Odyssey's direction.

That said, even if some didn't, you have to keep in mind it's not really an unpleasable fanbase in either case. It's different people with different preferences being vocal about different things. Some Mario fans liked linear 3D Mario games, some didn't. So when the series was one way, one side were happy and said nothing while the other side complained. Now it switched, the opposite occurs.

Yeah, that's all true.

To be honest, there isn't that much hate for the game, but plenty of people are concerned. The content we've seen so far looks pretty easy to play, they didn't show a lot of platforming sections.
And the astetics are a thing that some people don't really like.
I mean, the New Donk City stage had very mixed reactions...

I think there are people looking to be offended by something so that they can be in the spotlight for being that hero who "speaks for the voiceless".

While thats a noble cause, they certainly cheapen it with their nonsense : p

It seemed weird at first but the sheer awesomeness of everything makes it all work.
At first I didn't think I'd like Mario mixed with realistic stuff but posessing a motherflupping T-Rex wouldn't be NEARLY as awesome if it was as cartoony as Mario.

Odyssey for sure marks the end of Mario's Dark Age, honestly. I was really pleasantly surprised by it and at E3 I was even more surprised. It's a miracle to see creativity in this franchise again, I was getting sick of the NSMB Syndrome the series was suffering since 2012.

I have really hopes for Odyssey to be a really fun game. It just looks so fun to run around and explore the area and hunt for every collectables. I guess what I don't like is some of the environment looking a bit realistic. So far it just looks so fun and I can't wait to play it along with A Hat in Time when that also comes out this year.
