The Mario RPG thread

I was really hoping this game would have a Level up system like the other RPG Mario games, like making Mario's attacks stronger, it's what I love about the Mario and Luigi series, like, whenever I play that game my first instinct is to kill every foe to level up, which in turns makes me stronger. I had joy in that, but take that out and Battles start to become a hassle, they might be fun at first but overtime you'll be finding yourself think "Ugh...I just want to beat this level"

And resort to running away from almost every battle, stronger enemies will start to get annoying, but in M&L when you get to stronger enemies you're most likely think to yourself "Yes! More XP", but nooo, in this game you get annoyed at how long these characters take to kill, and once you beat them, what? just more paint, no XP...

I really hope Paper Mario goes back to its old ways, if no, at least add leveling up, that'll make the game better for me! :3

I'm still buying this game, since I actually really enjoyed sticker star I'll probably love this game despite the battling system being kind of lame. This game officially comes out tomorrow! I have $110 to spend, the other $500 is saved for things like a PC, PS4 and other.

I think over where I live this game is 74 bucks...overkill, lol. Oh well, hope this game is wroth it.

Really liked the SMB3 cameo as a stage in this game but as it stands it just seems to be a Sticker Star 2 which is disappointing. Aside from some game mechanics being changed for the better in Color Splash it just seems like a mediocre game.

It feels like a mix between Super Paper Mario and Sticker Star. It really does have the characteristics of the older Paper Mario games which is another good thing.
The Paper Mario series doesn't have to go back to the way it was but as long as they keep the content fresh and perhaps make new, zany worlds similar to what we got in TTYD and even Super Paper Mario it'd be a step in the right direction.

Color Splash is hands down one of my favorite Wii u titles. The game is very funny, the gameplay was on point! I love the platforming, the witty remakes and dialogue. Some people may say "Oh, take out the funny dialogue and it's just Sticker star 2", I say this isn't the case at all, the levels are solid, every level felt like it was new!

The battle system could have been better, if it were up to me the Jump and Hammer options will always be on hand, the other attacks like spring jump, throw hammer, multi-hit hammer, etc will still need to be collected.

I'd find myself avoiding some enemies because my paint hammer was already high enough (Also didn't want to waste a lot of my good cards.) so I'd suggest adding back the XP system from the older games. I want to feel the joy of killing many foes like in the M&L series.

Overall Color splash is very enjoyable.

You'd have to be an idiot to only load up on hammers, that is very dumb imo. Always have a mix of jump attacks and hammers! If you somehow feel the need to only load up on hammers for whatever reason, just use one hammer to free up a slot and have a go at the Wheel for only 10 coins.

I feel like Mario Party Advance felt more Paper Mario-y than the last 2 Paper Mario games in terms of tone and characterization.

Kamek can turn all your attack cards into Eek Hammers. That's what happened to the guy who discovered it.

Wow, all it ever did to me was turn my cards around so I couldn't see it, limited my cards. It never once turned my cards into just one thing. Aside from worn out shoes, which worked out.

Well, I beat Color Splash recently. My thoughts on that can be viewed here:

And my review is here:

Honestly, I did enjoy it to a degree, though I feel it's kind of only halfway to being as good as the original games, with an interesting world somewhat ruined a bit like a lacklustre cast list and battle system.
