The Mario RPG thread

  1. Then the remake should add a sidequest in town that opens up after you finish the game, so you're forced to relise it d:p

By the way, I've recently watched a 10-year-old video, showing the ending and credits of Superstar Saga, and two or 3 comments were like: "are you kidding me? After that hell boss fight, that's the ending? So disappointing!"

And I don't get those comments at all.

I guess it IS a bit short... but I wouldn't call it disappointing.

  3. But what were people expecting from the ending?
It just makes sense - we're done with Bowletta, we're going home.

Y'know I really can't help but wonder where the Minion's Quest mode is going to go from a story perspective, considering that the minion's quest to save Bowser is doomed to failure, I'm sure they are going to visit all of Superstar Saga's locations and not just end at the birth of Bowletta, but beyond that I have no idea.

Maybe more dialogue? More of a victory celebration? To compare, Partners in Time has a lot more character interaction at the end.

  6. I need to change the topic for a while.

I have a question about you guys experience with Partners In Time.

Back when I played Partners In Time...
    1) I explored Peach's Castle, i hit a heart block, and the game said: "All HP Restored!". I immedietly questioned: "why not BP?"
    2) When adult Mario leveled up right after his first battle, i immedietly noticed the lack of BP on the level up screen. I got confused.
    3) Then we got access to the menu, and had battles in Holly Jolly path. I stayed confused. Where's the BP stat? Does it not appear until you learn your first bro attack?

So yeah, i immedietly noticed the lack of BP. But am I the only one who payed so much attention to detail?

Cuz it seems most people didn't notice until Toadsworth's tutorial on Bro Items in Holly Jolly village. (And even then, some people just assumed it's exactly like the other game, and just mashed A without reading the tutorial).

So am the only person to quickly notice the lack of the BP stat, and wonder if the stat unlocks later, or if the game completly ditched Bro Attacks?

Naw, i had same exact experience though instead i thought this game scrapped Bro attacks since with 4 Mario bros you'd have a different method of attack whereas the first game just needed those two bros and they got rid of BP because you don't always have all four bros. I was glad it was still there though but i assumed each subsequent game had a new battle mechanic in its place.

I just figured out it didn't have BP almost as soon as I started playing it, then got used to the Bros Items when they were introduced.

  9. That's nice to hear.
I really haven't seen anybody notice it until the tutorial.

I can see why they did it though. Having just one number to keep track of rather than 4 is much simpler.

I guess alternatively they could've given the whole party one BP counter to share (similar to Paper Mario) ...not sure if that would've made it better...

Well, they used three sets of Bros Points in Mario & Luigi Paper Jam, so four sets wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

But you're right, it'd be quite a confusing leap when compared to the last game, and the Bros Items setup is much easier for a player to understand none the less.

I hope the next (non-remake) entry in the series focuses on just 2 characters at a time again... (still hoping for one with Wario and Waluigi).

Huh, interesting. I've seen some 'real-life footage' of Partners in Time, but I've never played it myself.
