Unpopular Video Game Opinions

Well, then I guess I've got another unpopular video game opinion for you: I think Super Mario Bros. 2 Japan is much better than Super Mario World. Or does that not count as 'classic Mario'? I've only played the GBA version of Super Mario World, though.

It depends on what you like: the Super Mario Bros. triology, or the modernisations (like the introduction of Yoshi) that Super Mario World was praised for. I think SMW is one of the best Mario games.

Now i'm starting to really come off as a weeb with all this Japanese > American version but anyways. Light Mythology not Kid Icarus. The first games localization was ass and now the series is branded as Kid Icarus over here. Eugh!

Here's one. Gamers around the web are pissed off that Nintendo is not treating Metroid like the important series it is.

But I don't think Metroid is as important as these people make it out to be. As much as I love Metroid, it is not a series as big or as important Zelda. Nintendo gives long hiatuses to all their lesser series. Everyone has to wait.

So Metroid fans need to stop acting like they are given some great injustice. This is just normal. Deal with it.

A message from a fan of Wario/F-Zero/a-shitton-of-other-series.

Not only that, but it would seem that no matter what Metroid does, the likes of Animal Crossing and even Splatoon will still be far more successful than it.

Is it any wonder those two were in MK8DX instead of Metroid?

  • I like Marble Zone & Labyrinth Zone from Sonic 1, okay yeah both are slow and tedious for Sonic Levels, but the mysterous atmosphere and interesting level design and gimmicks, makes them pretty enjoyable to me, plus it shows that going fast, while fun can sometimes be a hinder, and that sometimes you need to slow down and take your time to complete something as opposed to doing things as quickly as possible. plus the music for both zones are freaking catchy.

  • I feel like the NSMB Games get too much of a bad rep, okay they aren't the most creative or even the most fun games Mario has had, but I feel like they serve their purpose well (Traditional 2D Mario games aimed towards casuals and newcomers.) and despite their flaws, they are still pretty enjoyable and fun Mario games overall IMO. (Even if a lot of stuff does get reused a ton.)
Yeah this is all I can come up with so far.

With more experience with 2D Mario the level design is naturally better in the newer ones, NSMB U has some of Mario's best levels. They just don't FEEL new since 2 took you to subcon and 3 introduced 8 worlds and 4 had dinosaur land. Even if they just use 3's setting that doesn't make it bad, just repetitive.

My main problem with them, is that they couldn't add Wario and Waluigi, while in the spinoffs they did.

Making a Mega Man 11 would be pointless. Make it new and unique from the others and many fans will call it shit for not being as good as their precious Mega Man 2 but if you give them what they want and they complain its too samey.
If they even make a Mega Man 11 just end it and tie it to the beginning of the X series and end it, Then give some finality to the X series and continue Zero, ZX, Battle Network.

Now if you need me i'll be crying in a corner while playing Mega Man 4.

Well you must be happy now the Nintendo Switch has basically broke the pattern beyond repair. I mean, even Wikipedia can't figure out what generation that thing is in...
Which is very good, I think. I feel like that if someone would buy a Wii U, many would think "But I could also go for xbox or playstation", whereas here, the Switch is a separate thing, without direct competitors (so far).
