Unpopular Video Game Opinions

I don't want every platformer to be a speedrun game or super flashy.

Me either, but I like it when they try new things and the level design is IMO very neat in DKC Returns, but yes, I miss the more calm atmosphere of the original trilogy. A well-defined mix between calm and hectic would be much better.
They're just so nice to look at!! d:)

They are essentially just little sculptures with something extra. :)

Sculptures don't cause you to lose out on content you purchased if you don't buy them.

There are more and more Nintendo games where the role of Amiibo is getting bigger and bigger.

Well, rather the role of Amiibo getting bigger and bigger, than the role of online play getting bigger and bigger. On the Switch online play's going to become a paid subscription. In many games, online play plays a bigger part than Amiibo. Amiibo are less expensive than or about as expensive as the paid subscription, while you can use the Amiibo forever and will have to renew the online play subscription every year.

I'm not a huge fan of online becoming more of a major part of the gaming world either. Online multiplayer in a game like Mario Kart is fine, but:

1. There should still be a good single player mode in any online focused game

2. Single player only games shouldn't rely on an internet connection or online account

Fortunately, Nintendo seems to have hit the mark on both of these things.

MORE FAMICOM RAMBLING
Well this is more to do with my interest in beta stuff than actual preference of the Famicom but i like Yume Kush Dank Dank Pani- I mean Yume Koujo Doki Doki Panic more than Super Mario Bros. USA. That being said it only makes a smidgeo of difference because you gotta beat the game with every character, Which i actually like because you gotta take a more exploratory aproach and master each level as oppose to taking the easy way out with SMB2 character select. The real trade off is that Doki Doki Panic has saves and unlimited continues (thanks disk system!) where as SMB2 gives you 2 continues and no save feature but it adds a run button, that's right Doki Doki Panic didn't have it.
I like not having a run button, "T3WB, your MAD!" Again, i like the exploratory approach and the run button makes somethings skippable and whether you like it or not this game DOES NOT need the run button. You move faster when holding something and that speed increase differs between characters but the B button cancels that facet of strategy, That also explains why toad is fast in SM3DW.
But you have the unlimited tries to practice witout the run button and git gud and i see that limited continues brings back some of the challenge but going back to the title screen urks me beyond believe, especially when you are on your VERY last hit and the eagle face comes to live but you didn't know so you die and gotta restart because trial and error.

My final verdict is that Yume Koujo Doki Doki Panic is just barely better than Super Mario Bros. USA, it really doesn't make a big difference to me though so i'm down for either game.

The ¨Voices of the Temple¨ music is much better in Donkey Kong Land than in DKC.
I see what you mean, but that doesn't seem too unpopular of an opinion. That is, judging from the comment section of a video on the GB version.
I've got a similar case: Lego Racers. The tunes are catchy, they've always been. But I think most tunes sound much, much better on the GBC than on the N64 and pc versions. The melodies just seem to work much better as 8-bit.
One might argue that some themes from the GBC version aren't complete, as in they loop earlier than in the original version, but then I've got to say, I actually do prefer that. Some of the longer loops in the 'high-quality' version even seem a bit out of place to me, and I really do prefer it looping earlier.
But hey, that might just be because I know the GBC version much better...
speaking of which, I might not've posted that in the video game music thread yet. If not, I should do so.

In fact, I think many tracks of the Donkey Kong Country games sound better in the 8-bit DK Land games. This applies to Land-exclusively songs too. (The cave music for example.)

I think Mother 3 is overrated. It has some serious headscratching moments that don't sit right with me.

I prefer Mother 1's story.

There's also "Yoshi's friend" Poochy but it's spelled differently.

I may have said it before, but I did not hate Jabu Jabus belly in OoT, and Ruto actually is my favorite LoZ character : p

Oh, I liked Skyward Sword, and thought it was a fun game. Thats pretty unpopular, haha.

And when it comes to games where things like your armor and weapons are actually visible to the player, I have totally used weaker armor and weapons merely for the fact that I liked the way they looked on my character, haha.

People need to shut the fuck up about how revolutionary Mario 1 is.
Look seeing what some games did for the industry is VERY important, that being said i could give two shits how a game played 30 years ago, is it still good now.
Bottom line, Mario 1 on NES? Try for historical value but otherwise it can fuck off, play the sequels instead.
