[Wario Land 3] Why are Desert Ruins unbalanced?

The Desert Ruins in Wario Land 3... A desert, with sands, and 2 temples, on each side... Each side is locked by a gate. These gates can be destroyed, but require great streangh to do so...
Otherwise, one gate is open in the day, and one gate is open at the night...
Ok, so we have a day side and a night side to the ruins, right?
This level is our first introduction to "some levels can only be collected during a certain time of day".
You would think this level would show balanced between Day and Night, right?
But no. Only the Grey Chest is in the Day Area. All the remaining chests are in the Night Area.

(if you haven't played the game, or dont remember the level layout, here's a link to a map on Mario Universe: click here).

So why is it like this?

Maybe the villagers had a automatic machine that open/close the gates in the day/night to protect unknown treasures.

Or they are wizards.

Yeah, it's weird. That level has always been really confusing for me. Also, I remember finding the day version much more hard, because I couldn't button mash fast enough to get out of the sinking sand.
