I've been looking at my new Wario amiibo and thought "Is Wario's head smaller?" I compared it to my other Wario figures and... I was right! It was smaller in proportion to his body.

So I started looking at Wario character art and models only to notice Wario's head keeps growing and shrinking throughout the years.

Anyone else notice this?
 
I guess his head was shrunken down so it'll look better in a 3D model?

His head was huge back in the day, like half his body! Hahaha
 
Meh i'll just chalk it to Mario being Mario, After all this is the same series that tends to completely change Bowser's height depending on the game or how Mona is constantly getting a new job or hobby in every game, or how they'll completely change Mario's role to suit the game in need, or how Peach tends to be a damsal in distress in one game to a full on playable character in another. so me expecting any kind of consistency from Mario is like me expecting a new console from Sega. it's just not happening and that's fine in my book.
 
Still...I'd say the designs have been pretty consistent since the Gamecube era. Most changes you see you could probably chalk up to improved rendering technology and such. So seeing Wario's head size change is rather odd.
 
I have a theory that Wario is a midget, but wide enough to be heavy and you can fit your fist into his mouth.
