WayForward should do a Shantae/Wario crossover game

I'm not so much talking about the popularity in itself but I'm not sure how to really say it. I've played most of the games and while they're really solid the series doesn't particularly stand out to me. Maybe "overhyped" would be the term?

To each their own, I suppose. I find it to be one of the wittiest, most charming series ever made. It's a lot of fun too.

Give it another shot. Pirate's Curse in particular is incredible.

I still say Giana would be my ideal pick for Smash if we had to get an Indie... Not that I would mind Shantae getting in as well though. ((And it's mainly due to her franchises age and pretty interesting history.))

If only people didn't waste their votes on memes like Goku and Shrek like idiots we would have gotten SOME indie... :/

I had no clue the Giana Sisters was such an old franchise. Nice.

How did nobody think of this before? This would be awesome!

I'm imagining it now... Getting to switch between the two to perform different tasks and solve puzzles would be awesome. And what if a second player could join in for some co-op? The possibilities are endless!

Also, both series have the same sort of art style, so seeing them interact and work together would be a hilarious sight.

It would truly be the greatest game ever made.

bumping this topic to lament that it hasn't happened yet :(

I know, right? But if it will ever be made it would be, like @JS Shantae said, one of the best games of both series. My only concern is that they need to come up with a credible storyline that explains how Shantae got into Wario's universe (Or vice versa), while still fitting into the canon of both series. But seeing how creative WayForward and Nintendo can be, this shouldn't be that big of a deal. :wargh2::shantdance7:

I'm not worried about that in the slightest. Wario and Shantae are such rich, expressive characters with rich, expressive worlds and a story featuring them both would basically write itself.
It would be funny, clever, and bizarre. Just the way it should be.

tfw there will never be a crossover between the wario and dk games, we'll never hear more compositions made by David Wise and Eveline Fischer make for wario games.

Kirkhope is the one that I would say slips a little too often into a particular style

That's something that bothered me about Kirkhope's work as a kid. They used him for huge platformers like Banjo and DK64, among others, as a one-man show.
If only they'd used some of their other composers, the games wouldn't have sounded so similar, or over-saturated with that style. Look at the vast amount of individual tracks in those N64 platformers... He was spread way too thin.

Kirkhope is an inspiration, but his range and style is far too distinct. Look at the vast amount of individual tracks in those N64 platformers... He was spread way too thin.

An interesting tidbit in what Kirkhope thought about this game he worked on as well. Although his style is distinct he definitely has made memorable tunes not only during the N64 and SNES era but before that as well.

No doubt about it. When he was at his best, he was absolutely superb. Some of my favourite childhood tunes were by his hand. Donkey Kong Land 2 was my first exposure to Kirkhope, and incidentally, his very first soundtrack at Rare. One of the most impressive and atmospheric soundtracks for Game Boy, like all the DKL games. They really enriched my spirit for adventure as a boy (I realise he credits Dave Wise for that work, though).
