Ah, the Game Boy line.

One of the longest and best-selling handheld console lines ever. From 1989 to 2005, Nintendo released no less than 6 handhelds under the Game Boy name: three main consoles and three spinoff-like improved rereleases of the existing ones.

I own each of the three main Game Boys: the Game Boy, the Game Boy Color, and the Game Boy Advance.
And my favourite of these is the Gameboy Advance, which was indeed quite advanced for its release date (2001). But the best of all is in my opinion the Game Boy Advance SP, with its clamshell design that reminds me of that time in the early to mid 2000's when small and compact was the norm for portable electronics. The lit screen and built-in battery were a great improvement and the wide range of shiny colours to choose from also make it a pleasure to clean your GBA SP when it got dirty. (yes, that's what I think of it.)

I also like the design of the Game Boy Micro, even though I've never played on one.

Gameboy Advance SP Tribal Edition. The Gameboy Advance would always be my choice if I were to pick one, as it can play the games from all 3 generations. The SP Tribal Edition is much better to me, because it's got a backlit screen, which makes it much easier to see things.
The Gameboy Micro has got that too, and it feels quite nice ergonomically, but I prefer playing using a bigger screen.

Regardless of which one has the best games (which is debatable) Each main upgrade plays games of the previous so GBA generation is best. Of of them the OG GBA can use more accesories but how many people use E readers? (i actually did, lol). Micro is underappreciated. The only problem is that volume slider that since its one of the spiky rolly wheel ones as oppose to a slider you can't change the volume when its off so make sure you change it befoee entering a library when you suddenly feel like playing Golden Sun. Still the Micro is rather convenient (insert dick joke). Now to go with the popular opinion, i love the SP, I have tons of attachment to my old silver SP, still have so yeah, also the backlit screen is a god send. Speaking of back lights i am refering to the GBA SP model 2 which has a backlight, Check the back of your SP it says Model 2, or less likely, model 1. Model 2 is back lit and model one is front lit.

If i may @Just a Wario fan could you differenciate the GBA SP Model 1 and Model 2 in the polls? Also you forgot the gameboy light.

While I will definitely say the GBA SP is my favorite due to the lit screen and rechargeability.
The original Gameboy Advance had a much better design in my personal opinion. It's just more comfortable to use, compared to the GBA SP just based on experience, now I wouldn't say the flip phone/clamshell design is bad in any way, (It definitely has it's own perks.) It's just not the most comfortable to play with for long term sessions IMO. (But then again, I have big hands, so it's just personal preference more then anything,)

That could be, perhaps. It's no problem for me, though. The Wii U Gamepad, on the other hand...

GBA SP for a multitude of reasons; The backlight. I sometimes had trouble seeing the Gameboy Color and original Gameboy Advance screen even in daylight every now and again. Backlight also means it can be played in the dark which is not good for your eyes, but still. xP
Having a chargeable battery meant no more going to the store every once in a while to buy new batteries. The cost of disposable batteries adds up over time as well. The battery of the GBA SP was also really good that it would last a lot longer than the 3ds battery before recharging it. The battery indicator was better as well since it would turn red when low.
It was also easier to carry it around.

If there's anything I didn't like about it though, it was the lack of earphone jack.

I want to say Gameboy, because it's my very first console ever, I want to say Gameboy Color for all the good memories, I want to say Gameboy Advance SP, for how good the backlit screen was and the clamshell design, I wanna say Gameboy Micro for having such a clear and crisp LCD, backlit and a sexy design, smaller than most phones, but I'm gonna say GBA, the plain old GBA.
The Gameboy Advance started it all, the best era of portable gaming, in my opinion. I gotta say, that was also one of the best and most confortable designs for a console. Plus, the fact that it has a top loading cartridge slot is great. I don't like the fact that you can wiggle the cartridge by mistake when you play Wario Land on the SP.
And yes, I praise the clamshell design for being compact and protecting the screen, but somehow, the SP didn't do it right for me...

Plus, earphone jack, yeah! (My GBA SP's sound stopped working for some reason too)

One bad thing about the GBA is the batteries, I wish it used an actual chargeable battery, like the SP... Oh well, you can't have it all, right?

The Game Boy Advance SP mainly because of the backlight, but I love all iterations of the Game Boy line.
