Honestly, what's wrong with Nintendo these days?

True, it's not like these are unpopular franshises.... I just don't get it. Maybe they're releasing consoles too fast, and don't have enough time to make a good game. Breath of the Wild has been in development for a while so I think we can expect a good game there.
I personally hate when they rush games out, but they need to calm down with the console releases to keep up...

What isn't wrong with Nintendo

The whole 5-6 year console life-cycle is stupid and impractical today. Technology is so advanced now we shouldn't have to keep forking out cash and closet space for slight upgrades or stupid new gimmicks.

Build a grand, respectable system, market it to ALL players like the SNES (without the Wii's family friendly fluff) and focus on perfecting the library and interface. Cover all bases, THEN release a new system.

@Angler of Lake Asparagus , but we have been getting good games still, just not the iconic franchises we expect. Maybe that's the problem, we shouldn't expect those to be regular... I just don't know anymore, it's like talking to an empty void when talking to Nintendo...

Are they trying to become a super niche part of the industry? Is Nintendo full of old farts who are out of touch, and refuse to hire new blood? It's as if their development staff shrunk and is now struggling to keep up.
They stopped making their own games and started hiring outsiders.
