obligatory "What vidcons are you playing????" thread

Oh, I had actually just recently watched a video on that very game. I was even gonna link it to you here, but had forgotten. Am glad you already looked into it : p

It looked fun, I liked the cheesy-spooky level design : p

I had a binge session of Wario Land 3 a few days ago and managed to find the rest of the treasure chests. However, I still have some collecting left to do because of the music coins. I couldn't find the last one in Peaceful Village, so I imagine this might take a while, lol.

I guess I can post that I did finish KoToR 2 : p It was a really cool game, I really enjoyed it.

I tried playing the first one again right after that, couldnt get into it though : p Will need to find another game to get into, haha.

I've never been able to find all music coins, even when I really tried. I think I got stuck in Sea Turtle Rocks, but I'm not positive. Hey, I'll check really quick.
Nope, I did actually get them there, eventually, although it took me over an hour, if I recall correctly. That means I got stuck in Desert Ruins.

Beat the original Ruby last week

All the time tbh, especially with less replayable games. The first time playing through is truly magical. I sometimes try to recreate that feeling by not playing a game for like 7 years.

Yeah I figured as such I mean the first case is usually nothing more than a warm up but this one was relatively interesting with that in mind.

Jurassic Park 2: The Chaos Continues for SNES. A very obscure gem, and probably OCEAN Software's finest effort for SNES, overall.
It's an original sequel that takes bits and pieces from the novels to formulate a unique continuation of the first film (it's also set on the same island). This game predated the Lost World film, and quite a few have said this game had a much better story and concept under its belt.

I used to really dislike this game in my youth, due to the fact you don't play as Alan Grant, since I was a big fan of the original SNES game (and Sam Neill in general).
Strangely enough, you do play as Dr. Grant in the GB version of this game, which shares nothing with the SNES version other than its title. I always hated it when old games would share the same name, but be totally different (like "Battletoads" for NES and GB being completely different games, released the very same year!)

Now that I'm more mature, I can appreciate the SNES version for what it is. It's not a perfect game (OCEAN games usually have something holding them back), but you can tell they really tried to get everything bang on. It's certainly a better non-canonical JP game than Konami's "DNA Factor" for GBA. It's tense, and highly atmospheric, with smooth gameplay, beautiful visuals, and an exquisite soundtrack that doesn't sound like a SNES game at all (even the intro is fully voice-acted). A rare and hidden treasure for old JP fans. Very hard but rewarding.

The Battletoads situation is doubly dumb because a few years later, Rare releasesed "Battletoad's in Ragnarok World" on GB, which had a different title and cover art... but was a port of the NES game!

Exactly!! I used to think "Whoooa! Battletoads in Ragnarok's World? I'll bet this is a totally bitchin' unique title, just like the first GB game!" But no. They give the first GB game the exact same name and cover as the NES game, yet they're totally different games (how were the buyers supposed to figure that out??)
Then they port the NES game to GB a few years later with only HALF the levels, and they give it a flashy new name and cover to disguise the fact you're buying a watered down port with 50% of the game missing. What the bloody hell, Tradewest/Rare...

I still loved the game, but it was criminally misleading and a big letdown for me. Still has one of my favourite GB covers, though...

@King Hehehe whenever you get the chance to see this, how much of the Ace Attorney series have you played? I'm taking my time with Trials and Tribulations but since this marks the end of the original trilogy I've been thinking about where to go after this and would like some other people's insight.

I just beat Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy : 3 Totally did it with cheat codes though, haha. Theres no way I could have done it without them : p Is a hard game.

Fun fact, the main character (female version anywho, which is who I played as) is voiced by the same VA as Sheena from Tales of Symphonia. Thought that was way cool : p

Now I gotta beat the game that came out before, Jedi Outcast. With cheat codes, of course : p Dunno why I beat jedi academy first : p

Just through Apollo Justice so far, which has a bit of a timeskip, but it's the next in the series, so that's where I went. Ace Attorney vs Professor Layton is also non-canon, so it can be fit in wherever you want it to, basically. It may or may not have some nods to the other games (haven't played it, but I know it was made last), but at least nothing important to the story. Miles Edgeworth Investigations is also an option, but since it was made after Apollo Justice, it may have a reference or two to that. I assume that it would be fine to do first, since it comes before it chronologically. Those would be the three most viable directions I can think of to go from here. I know that all of the 3DS games besides the Layton crossover take place after Apollo Justice, so you'd at least want to go through that before going through the rest of the mainline games.

A while back I wrote a profile about how I beat the first Virtua Cop on the last life of my last credit. Well I just did the exact same thing with its sequel Too bad Virtua Cop 3 has never been released on home consoles so that I can complete the trifecta.

Anyway, so about that Virtua Cop 2. The first VC was a pretty big step forward for gun games with its realistic impact detection and environement interactivity, and while Virtua Cop 2 doesn't overhaul the mechanics, it's an altogether more accomplished game. featuring mroe interesting set peices like car chases or a shoutout in a subway car. The bosses are more varied and interesting (instead of half of them being buff dudes that shoot missiles, followed by a buff dude in a tank that shoot missiles and a helicopter that shoot missiles) and it tones downs the usage of guys in machete who pop up from nowhere, which VC1 kind of overdid in spots. The controls on a standard controller are also far more polished, featuring better sensitivity for both modes and you only need to press the reload button once (the first VC required you to double-tap it: I guess this was done to simulate how gun players have to shoot outside the screen to reload, but considering playing with the controller is enough of handicap already, that was a stupid mechanic)

You may ask "Who's stupid enough to play a light gun game with a standard controller?" Well, *I* am.

So yeah, Virtua Cop 2 is pretty rad. I was big on HOTD a few years back and it was fun to experience its ancestors.
