More glorious 2D Artwork featuring New Donk City

I don't like that one as much as the other 2. They just threw a filter over a screenshot instead of drawing the background in the same style as Mario.
Yeah, it looks very jarring considering the other places have been in full 2D but considering New Donk City is pretty jarring looking compared to the other lands. That's probably intentional.

And speaking of New Donk City

This is something else.
That's not a bad thing though as this has got to be one of Nintendo's best commericals ever in recent years.

Wow, the graphics have improved a TON since the last trailer! You could almost think Pauline was real!

....wait a minute-

Are there two Toadettes now? Toadette and "Archivist" Toadette like that Captain Toad nonsense?
Since Captain Toad's treasure tracker and other recent games before Odyssey kept to there being one Toadette, plus the fact that there doesn't seem to be any other Toadettes besides her, I'll assume that there's still only the one Toadette, as to why they called her archivist? maybe that's her role in the team or among Peach's guard or something??? it's certainly odd though to say the least. I hope they don't do that though, seriously it's already confusing as F with the whole Captain Toad/Toad nonsense, we don't need potentially two Toadette's on top of that. But I I doubt that will happen though.

You people make no sense.
There is nothing weird about Toadette beco ing in Archivist in this game.
I mean, why not? Anybody could het any job, so Toadette signed up to be an archivist.
In in Treasure Tracker, they went on an adventure together. Seriously, what's so weird and confusing about 2 friends going on an adventure together?

What I'm getting at is that originally it seemed Toad and Captain Toad were the same character and that "Captain" was just a title Toad would occasionally adopt. However, it later turns out that they're not the same character and then even later it seems that they are or not or something stupidly inconsistent. I'm likely overblowing as I just initially thought it was a just a title to play off of Captain Toad better. However, then I thought of that weird inconsistency between Toad and Captain Toad and wondered if this would apply here too. Probably not but Nintendo seems to not care for consistency at all so we'll just have to wait and see!!

By the way, is it just me, or does the game seem to have a lot more influence from the Wario Land series? The weirdness (Particularly with the new character designs and especially the boss battles), transformation-based gameplay and puzzles based around them, larger focus on coins and losing them instead of lives when you die, non-standard level settings that are more open and have more to collect in them, etc. Wouldn't surprise me if it was intentional, since this game is made by a merger (Nintendo EPD) of the first four Wario Land games/WarioWare team (Nintendo R&D1/SPD) and the main Mario team (Nintendo EAD).

That's a pretty interesting observation but I can't really see it being that way. Weird character designs have been seen before such as in Super Mario Sunshine, and while not as expansive as this we have gotten quite a lot of transformation based gameplay over the years in Mario games. I'm also pretty sure a lot of the Wario Land developmental guys aren't very hands-on nowadays also.
