Yah, but DKL2 added Dungeon Danger and Krazy Koaster. Regardless of area names, I've played them side by side, and the layouts are not the same. Glimmer's Galleon is a massive pitch black maze, while Kleaver's Kiln involves Krockheads and firing at Kleaver with a cannon!

DKL2 is more a "Game Boy re-imagining" or extension. The word "port" is thrown around far too much, and it's very misleading. It implies they contain the exact same layout, which simply isn't true.

Either way, what did you think of the rest of the interview?

It was pretty informative, you betcha! I learned some new things about Grant.
You take the middle-ground approach, acting both casual and professional. It puts the conversation at ease, and makes it feel like a friendly powwow.
Of course, Grant is a very laid-back sort of bloke, so that's easy to pull off.
Anyone else feel Mario Odyssey reminds them of a Mario & Luigi or Paper Mario game? It's got the feel of one if you ask me, with the original settings, original characters, good use of nostalgic references, Bowser with more personality, etc. Quite a bit of humour too.
And I thought multiple carts were annoying in the PS1 era. Nope, the Amiga version of Rise of the Robots apparently came on 13 floppy discs, and you had to change disc multiple times to get past the intro cutscene.

I heard one of the mortal kombat games on amiga require to switch floppy for the fatalities...

Yikes. And they said the game was bad on the Super NES; at least that version only came in one cartridge...

Switching floppy disc for the fatalities in Mortal Kombat? LOL, that must certainly have gotten old fast!

And yeah, this is one of those games which just gets worse and worse the more you know about it.
Just interviewed Grant Kirkhope about Banjo, DK and Mario + Rabbids. Oh god, the memes that'll come from this article and video...
Am I the only one who kind of wants to see a celebrity play a game show for themself rather than a charity? It'd be very Wario like to say 'I'm playing to make myself even richer'!

It would be Wario-tier if the celebrtiy keeps the chairty money and make a poor excuse about it.
God, that quote from Game & Wario's 'Kickstarter' would be great for a Patreon page...

You should make a Patreon for the Wario cause! and dress up as Wario as a reward for 250$ donated.

I remember seeing someone say an has-been game developer asking for lots of money he probably doesn't need is a bit more on the nose than Nintendo realized
Well, I've finally changed it. Now guests can view and download post attachments here. Always found it annoying how XenForo didn't allow this by default.
So, how do you think we can get more Wario fans interested in this site? I'd say it's doing okay, but it needs a few more active people or so.

A new Wario game for starters.

Yeah, that would certainly help a lot. But as the Earthbound fanbase shows, you can still have a bit more activity even with all chances for an official sequel being dead and buried.
Just saw a video where Charles Martinet commented on the brutal final level in Mario Odyssey in character. Interesting experience, though I'm not sure I'd stay sane in the same situation.
Hopefully 2018 will be the year we get a new Wario game. Any new Wario game.

I love these flying white dots.
Random trivia time: the lyrics for the Phantom's song in Mario + Rabbids are the only time the words 'Your princess is in another castle' are actually spoken in the Mario series. It's the Mario equivalent of 'beam me up Scotty'.
Okay, this quote from Master of Disguise made me laugh a bit: " Carpaccio: "Car", as in "car", and I got a nice one. "Pac", as in "posh", which my mansion is. "Cio", which rhymes with "B.O.", which is what YOU got! Seriously bud, shower much?"
Ah, I love the brochure pages in Super Mario Odyssey. Much more interesting than a boring map screen, especially with details like Culmina Crater being a city wiped out by an asteroid or life potentially beginning on the Moon.

I do find it somewhat amusing how the Ruined Kingdom one plays up the 'mystery' side though. I mean, it's fascinating:

"This tower once collected energy from lightning in the thunderclouds that constantly swirl here. Some say it was destroyed by repeated lightning strikes, but others note the unnatural shapes into which the tower crumbled and wonder if it fell into ruin for different reasons entirely."

"One certainly feels a sense of intentionality in the way they're stuck straight down, as if fallen from the sky. Some see them not as swords, but rather nails or stakes. Perhaps the eyelets at the top allowed ropes or chains through to anchor something, but it's impossible to say what."

"Some have theorized that the circular plaza atop the tower was built for a standoff of some kind."

"The stone here has numerous large slashes cut through it, often in parallel tracks suggesting giant claws. But that can't be right—what could claw through stone?"

But it's not exactly much of a mystery given what happens ten minutes before you arrive. Eh, maybe the in universe writer here was completely blind and somehow failed to notice the boss...

The brochures in Super Mario Odyssey are definitely amazing and they fit the theme of travel perfectly as they're filled with so many little details and tidbits about each kingdom in the game. it's also a great way of having lore and worldbuilding in the series without it intruding on the main game.

Seriously the sheer amount of detail and effort that they put into everything is very fascinating to say the least and it only makes Super Mario Odyssey that much greater.
