9-Volt's references

So we generally like 9-Volt yeah? Not gonna go into that popularity BS but we generally like that he makes old school Nintendo references. I'm surprised we haven't made a thread yet that makes a list of all these that we can talk about. I'll mention one I stumbled upon myself. From the Developer Diaries...

3/6 Thursday
I exchanged Pokemon with 9-Volt.
The monsters I got were very strong but the names, “Lovetester” and “Tenbillion” are not very cute…
The Love Tester is a pretty well known Nintendo toy from before their video game days

However, the "Tenbillion" is perhaps a bit more obscure but it's also another Nintendo toy. It's a tumbler puzzle kind of toy.

One that I always remember is the Ultra Machine, which appears in his first boss microgame:

I had absolutely no clue what that was about when I first played the game, in fact I wonder how many western players know anyhing about this, without the internet.

Yeah, NoA didn't even exist until 1980.

A lot of people here at the time must have been scratching their heads over what all these weird toys and things were about. But there were few websites that tried to cover all this back then.

It's kind of funny. Without knowing that reference, that microgame doesn't seem to fit in 9-Volt's set at all.
