Grey Games

Koopaul

Yes. I'm that Koopaul.
There are games we really love and games we really hate. But what about the games you can't really put your finger on. Maybe they are somewhere in between love and hate? Maybe they are strange anomaly you don't know how to feel about? This is that topic.

Right now I'm slugging through 3 games. Not because they are "bad" but because they don't have that addictive quality that makes me go "let's keep going". Instead I beat a level or two and then put it down for later.

Those games are Miitopia, Hey! Pikmin, and Chibi-Robo! Ziplash.

Each has a quality I appreciate but not enough to be stellar.

Gameplay wise Ziplash is the best. Having a neat little gameplay mechanic that can be quite fun to use. And Miitopia is the worst. Probably because it barely has any gameplay, you mostly sit there and watch thing happen. Ziplash actually would have made a great little 15 dollar eShop title. Why it was a full priced game and had the series riding on it is beyond me.

The most charming game is Miitopia. With its music, artstyle, characters, and humor; it's really enjoyable to watch... Because that's what you'll mostly be doing. The least charming game is Chibi-Robo! Ziplash. It has incredibly boring music, visuals, and character design.

And where does Hey! Pikmin fall? Somewhere between these two games. It doesn't have the charm that Miitpoia has but its visuals and music are fine. And it doesn't have the fun gameplay of Chibi-Robo but it's decent for what it is. Playing all three of these game at the same time is quite interesting just for the sake of how I can compare these... okay games.

Anyway do you guys have an introspective on games you can't really say are bad or good?

fast racing neo. for every bit of good technology or sometimes inspired track design, there was something stupid or dickish to counterbalance it. Fast rmx does enough quality-of-live improvements to tilt it toward the "good" scale

Originally I got two games in mind when it comes to grey area games for me, Metal Arms glitch in the system and a really dumbass railgun shooter called Revolution X.

From a stand point Revolution X doesn't seem that out of the ordinary for it's time since arcades were still booming here but when you can choose between something with well more prestige gaming companies that have made other rail gun shooters such as House of the Dead or something it'd be quite odd. What makes this stand out is basically you using the power of music to shoot down enemies at strip bars oh and the strangest thing about this game was that it featured music as weapon not only that but Aerosmith is also in this game as well. Talk about a midlife crisis the shooter the game, here's some gameplay for ya'll.

The next game is made by Sierra honestly this game is the first and only game by " Sierra " I know of if any of you have any insight on this company more it'd be appreciated. Basically you're a mining robot who wants to start a rebellion for all of your robot kind against other robot oppressors. Nothing really special but I do love the fact that it's one of the more experimental games of it's time being not only a TPS but having more platform layouts as well similar to Mario, Banjo, or recently at the time Spyro. Everything doesn't look colorful however very dull colors and it clashes sometimes with the enemies if they're not a bright color like red. It's an interesting game for anyone who is into collecting more obscure titles from the PS2, GCN, and Xbox era.

Oh yeah I remember Metal Arms now that you mention it. Only played it a little bit of though. Didn't leave much of an impression at that time but I'd like to see what I'd think of it now.

The short answer is, it's alright it's definitely better than Fur Fighters. It controls alright but I just feel like it's always been overshadowed it's to be expected by a game like this. If you like robots and robots cursing and shootin shit then try it.

Wario land Super Mario land 3 is what comes to mind. This is the only game that seems to hit this area no madder how i look at it, i just see it as ok.

I love the the Super Mario land games, or at least 1&2. Wario land Super Mario land 3 is still fun, but this game will always be in limbo for me. Can't hate it but can't bring my self to like it ether.
Its not the controls or the gameplay or the graphics, Its not the game its me, why? well...
