Something that really saddens me is that they never brought back Hideki Naganuma back for future Sonic games. Hell, I don't get why he didn't come back for Sonic Rush Adventure.

I completely agree, Sonic Rush's soundtrack is just amazing.
And despite his style being different then any other Sonic soundtrack to date, it just fits so well with Sonic like it was meant to be.

Seriously this is some good shit right here and it's definitely sad that he never came back to compose a Sonic game. (Really hadn't heard much from him in recent years actually.) Some of Rush Adventure's soundtrack does come a little close to replicating his style.

But it's not nearly the same in my opinion. (Though Rush Adventure has a good soundtrack in it's own right.)

But really, Sonic Rush in general is a underrated masterpiece, okay it's not perfect in any way, and it does suffer from a few things, but from Blaze (Third favorite Sonic character besides Knuckles and Sonic) and her development (Probably one of the few Sonic characters to even have character development.) to the amazing soundtrack (As I talked about above.) to it's overall influence on the franchise, this is a game that should have gotten more respect and love then it did in my personal opinion. (Despite it's flaws.)
And it's certainly in my top 5 Sonic games.

Yeah definitely agree with all the points you said about Sonic Rush. It's one of my personal favorites in the series. Something funny is when the game was first announced many moons ago I was actually pretty disappointed with the soundtrack being changed since originally the soundtrack seemed to follow more in line with the Advance series soundtrack. (I also didn't like the voice cast change but ehhh)

Though when playing, Naganuma's soundtrack really just fits.
He's still active from what I know of him but doesn't really do full soundtracks anymore.

This game really seems to have near-universal acclaim. And I've never played it!
Maybe I should, I'm getting the feeling more and more that I'm missing out on a really good Sonic game.

I always love his style of music from games like Jet Set Radio to the recent Hover: Revolt Of Gamers. It's honestly a shame that we don't get much Sonic music from him because I would just love to hear more from him!

He seems pretty reserved with what works he contributes to but even so, it's just crazy to me that he only did music for one Sonic game. Not even contributing just one track in another game.

Yes you absolutely should.
It's not perfect by any means and it does have it's fair share of flaws, (The game has a major difficulty spike later on.) but I think overall, it's still a fantastic handheld Sonic game that's just oozing with style all around and one I would certainly recommend.

Damn. I just may pick it up here shortly. I liked the Sonic Advance games and people say this is better, so I'm quite optimistic. I certainly trust your guys' judgement as well. I know you wouldn't lead me to some shitty Sonic game.

I'll keep you posted

So while I was away I rekindled my passion for the blue blur and so I've been pretty interested in the hedgehog's lesser recognized entries. I always felt like the 8-bit Sonic 2 game had some stellar music and here's one of my favorites from it.

I've just watched footage of Crash Bandicoot Mind Over Mutants for the first time today and I'm seriously weirded out by how that game is basically a prototype for Sonic Boom (the game)

seriously just look at this

The shallow beat'em up gameplay. the overabundance of voice clips. the obnoxious "self-aware" humor. It's all there. Anyone agree?
