The Crygor thread

I really like Dr. Crygor as you can see from my profile picture. And Mike and Penny too. When I first played WarioWare Touched I thought he was an evil professor kind of character. But it turned out he was not evil at all, just a bit mad. ( I played Touched before Mega Microgame$) His best design in my opinion is also from Touched, where he was ¨upgraded¨. And did you know that he built the Wario Car?

What do you think is the greatest Invention of them?
The Wario Car, obviously. Sorry Mike, but that car is way cool. WarioCar::

Well what do you know, I was thinking about making a thread like this, but I figured we won't really need it since there's already a general Ware characters thread so I never did one. welp it's finally here so I should go ahead and say, he is my favorite Warioware character of all time, these kind of characters just seems to always appealed to me a lot. being slighty nutty and crazy but also really intelligent at the same time.
And the fact that he gave us such classics such as Mike (Who can use more love as of late.) and Fronks definitely deserves some praise as well.
Oh yeah and Penny Crygor, while she is a bit on the bland side she definitely has her moments as well and I generally like her a lot too. (If I had a choice between Young Cricket & Penny, I'll choose Penny by a landslide. XD)
and she's pretty cute and smart as well so that's a plus, (And she can be pretty creepy at times as well *Shudders* thinks about that Majora's Mask sticker.) but do you want to know what makes Dr Crygor the greatest Ware character of all time?

He created the single best car ever that's only appropriate for the single best thing ever.
THE WAHRIO CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mainly made the general thread to encourage discussion of the extended cast, so to see a thread like this come up does make me very happy.

As far as the characters are concerned I love em' all, Dr Crygor is the kinda fun eccentric scientist, who is brilliant in his craft, but clearly has some screws loose to think that a karaoke robot would be the most ideal means to solve his cleaning needs, Penny has already bee summed up perfectly by TP100 (though I cut Young Cricket more slack) and while Mike rarely get's much of anything to do I find him really underloved, even in comparison to the other non-gothic loli characters I mean come on: Party-rocking algorithms.

I honestly don't see Penny and Young Cricket as bland at all.
Penny seems to be a nerdy but clumsy character. She really shined in D.I.Y.
As for Young Cricket: I have to admit that we pretty much know nothing about his personality aside from constantly eating but i really like his design and find the basic idea behind him quite interesting.

The original will always be my personal favorite of the bunch.

And fact i'll go and say this theme is pretty much what I think of when I think of Warioware in general. (Along with the menu theme.)
from the random sounds thrown in to just the overall tone and feel, when I think of Warioware this is one of the themes that often pops into my mind. Just as the theme from Wario Land 1 & 2 is generally what I think of when I think of the Wario Land series.

That could also be because Nintendo used to play the theme all the time in the older Japanese commercials

Crygor is amazing. It's sad that his grandaughter started getting more attention than he did. He's a far superior character. I blame the cute-ification of the series. Where cuteness started being more important than wierd and silly.

Even Kat and Anna had this wierd vibe about them. Remember the first WarioWare and how overly serious the their story and music was, then you're playing these super cutesy microgames? The juxtaposition of the super serious setting and the super cute microgames ended up hilarious and strange in all the ways WarioWare needs to be.

Even in Mega Party Games, they played this serious sounding music while sitting on top of a bunch of turtles. But after that, Kat and Anna were sadly played straight, and just... cute.

Don't get me wrong, I like cute. But in a Wario game the only way I want to see something cute is if there is a splash of strangeness to it.

I don't think that Penny replaced Dr.Crygor.
Let's compare their role in the 3 games where Penny is there:
Smooth Moves:
Crygor appears in both his and her cutscenes. His stage has the most replay value since it's kinda motivating and has more random games and has a different feeling to it.

Penny has her own stage with "traditional format" and a message from her on a blackboard.
I would say 1:1 for now

D.i.y.:
Crygor pretty much just appears in the first cutscene and as stamp. Although his invention is the key element in the game his role was rather small.

Penny has no minigames but teaches the player how to use it which gives her the most dialogue and one (if not the) biggest role in the D.I.Y. series.
1:2 for Penny

Game and Wario:
Crygor has his own cutscene and a minigame that can be played alone AND with a second player.

Penny has no cutscene and a Minigame where you NEED atleast two players.
2:2

I think they are pretty balanced.

Is it just me or does it look as if Dr. Crygor has breasts in this outfit? :S8V:

I suppose some guys pectoral muscles look more breast-like than others? (I sure hope mine don't, but nobody's ever brought it up. Hehehe...)
Anyways, it's great to see the good doctor has his own thread. He used to be my favourite of the motley crew.
