Wario's nationality

We have had this discussion before, but I wanted to bring it up again anyway: What is Wario's nationality/descent? I have heard many possible answers, some more plausible than others: Italian, like the Mario brothers, German, Polish, Russian-American, and even Jewish.

So what exactly is Wario's (supposed) descent? I personally think he isn't any of these, and has only the Mushroom Kingdom as his nationality.

At first, he had a German accent but Charles Martinet gave him the typical Italian accent like Mario, Kiyotake probably heard both voices and choosed which one was the most fitting.
