  • Well, I've gotta tell you, folks.... I totally wash my hands of Nintendo's (majority) online consumer base. I mean, what a pack of ignorant, shitty, ungrateful little brats.
Nintendo manage to put up a forgotten classic as unexpected and warmly nostalgic as CLAYMATES, and what do the consumers do? Why, they spit their dummies on the floor, they throw their banana custard at their mothers, they start blubbering they want mainstream stuff that everyone already knows to death (like Earthbound or Mario RPG) and not this "unknown shovelware shit" or "bottom of the barrel garbage nobody has ever played ever".

Lock 'em in a room, I say. Get some bloody culture in them. Expand their tiny spoiled minds beyond the same old mainstream stuff.
Claymates was an unsung platformer and a cult classic in PAL territories way back when. It's not a perfect game, but Interplay and Visual Concepts certainly put their hearts into it and filled it with ideas, aesthetic and personality. It does not deserve to be instantly maligned like that, especially considering how ridiculously unlikely and unexpected it is to see it released on any modern/official platform (FAR more so than Earthbound). You ungrateful little snots....

I remember when they added Wild Guns and the reaction was stuff like "Where'S DONKEY KONG"

Ohh, it makes ya sick, doesn't it? I mean, Wild Guns...! You're given a glorious opportunity to explore some of the more interesting, unique, or scarcely-mentioned lost gems of yesteryear, but no. They'd rather squeal for the same old, same old. I'm telling you, Glow, I just wanna take off my belt and give 'em six of the best...
How do you feel about this

Huh... So a group of fans have hacked a ROM of CF Tournament Edition to make it acceptable for modern day tournaments? If so, that's a pretty grouse idea! (As long as they remain faithful to it and don't butcher/make artistic changes). I mean, I'm not bothered by it, but if old Herve "Titus" Caen finds out, they're mince meat.

I was just getting into the old Redneck Rampage series recently, and your post made me wonder... If Interplay had stayed afloat and been a success into the 2000's (and avoided the hostile takeover from Titus), they could have added many more of their I.P.s into the ClayFighter franchise as they did with Boogerman and Earthworm Jim. I'm trying to imagine grotesque clay combatants based around Rad Gravity, Redneck Rampage, M.D.K., Stonekeep, Fallout... Maybe even the corrupt mining bureau guy from Descent... That could have been such a weird, unique novelty/tradition for Interplay.
Is Angler seen around anymore? Loved the guy.

I think it was something like this: he used to access the site though some kind of public network and so he ended up having problems maintaining his privacy. At one point he even got hacked and ended up losing a lot of data and so coming back here was sadly too problematic for him.

It's indeed like what Garfield Shitposter said, but he has occasionally been seen again, though, as with 607, he's not a regular anymore, and I heavily doubt he will ever be again.

That's a massive shame. Hope he's doing okay wherever he is.
Happy birthday Angler, we may not see you around here anymore, but you're not forgotten, hope you have a good day where ever you are on this interesting and chaotic world.
If I were cast down to hell and had to choose my dinner from a set menu, the main course would be a large vat full of... urghhh..... kimchi. (And of course, the reason I'm in hell to begin with is for murdering my little brother who eats the stuff daily and turns the fridge into a leaky gas chamber).

Im guessing that because its hell, ita foods that you hate? If so, mine would be beets. Cant even stand the smell of them. Is an awful food.

Have never had kimchi before, not even sure Ive ever seen it tbh : p

Kimchi is a popular Korean food made of salted fermented vegetables like cabbage and radish, swimming in seasoning. Basically, it's rotting zombified vegetables in ooze.
It's so vile and potent it stinks out your house, attaches itself to you, and pollutes anything in your fridge that isn't sealed in titanium (especially dairy like milk, butter, yoghurt, etc.) I absolutely DESPISE it! Stay well away, Mona.
Three cheers to the masked stranger who fixed my little post problem on my Wario Website thread. You know who you are (but I don't).

G'day there, MW! You betcha, the issue was eventually solved. I posted about it when I returned last Saturday.

I'm not setting up shop like the old days but I wanted to say hello and contribute a thread or two.
I invested sooo much time here writing up history essays, research, music appreciation... it seems so futile now that it's all gone. Besides, I don't think there's any interest or a substantial audience around to bother. There's a lot of names I'm not familiar with, and it doesn't look like it would be their bag of chips.

There seems to be a huge burnout in enthusiasm around here, which is understandable. I've only seen a handful of old natives pop up from the bushes and vanish again. Ah well.... I'm busy with an online course anyway, so I won't invest precious time if there's no action. I hope you're doing well, my Simpsonian bass-shredding saint/friend!

Oh neat, I was actually worried that someone had hacked your profile again. Am glad youre doing well, though!

I didnt see your post about coming back, I havent been spending much time here lately either. And yeah, most of the people that made this forum what it was are gone.

I hope your courses are going well, and Im glad that you might be stopping in here again sometimes. Ill be sure to keep an eye open for you, haha.

Honestly thought the emu's got you angler it's good to see you returned from planet Australia in the least known kuiper belt.
WarioForums! Hey-hey! G'day! And a gassy truckload of how-ya-doin's to my old gang of world wide websters!
Mona, Magma, Glowsquid, Robin, Shyster, Ninja Feline, CM30, T3WB, TB100, Monxi, CMV, JAWF, Metal, Daria, ChickenDinner, and dear old Colonel...... Carloft?

Let me just say, I'm deeply flattered to read you haven't forgotten about me after... what's it been... half a year or more? You're a tremendous bunch. I see a few names have changed, but the same warm, friendly, grotty faces lie behind them (@Boris Carloft's Car Loft , I've been looking for a new transmission, so it's a handy coincidence you became an auto dealer).

Anyhow, I just had to stop by for a bit after finally getting steady internet and a knee-smacking, shiny new computer (which is strictly for work-not frivolity). So I'm feeling pretty tickety-boo and I hope you're not too shabby either, trendsetters!

By the way, cheers for the birthday wishes, but c'mere and I'll let you in on a secret... that birthdate is actually a red herring. Shhhhh...
Happy fishing/playing/treasure hunting to you all!

I'm flattered you asked for my help. Sadly, I can't find anything that would suggest that there's more to the flashwave than the loading screen in the page's code. Though it's still possible something is hidden in the javascript.
And I'm doing pretty fine overall.

Snot a problem, Ninja. I knew it was probably a dead loss, but I'm sure it's possible to still access them somehow. The person who revived the European website put up a bit of footage on Youtube among other old Nintendo game websites from the early 2000's (he won't respond to anyone's complaints though). Cheers for trying!

Terrific interview. I've always had a humongous amount of respect for the original core team at Rare, so it's great to have some insight into their production process. Hats off to Mr. Machacek... What a resume he must have.

Can't thank you enough for this link, Glo. I owe Mr. Machacek the moon and stars for the countless hours of joy I had with Rare's Game Boy library growing up, especially the DKL trilogy. What a boyhood inspiration he was (along with the works of R&D1), through the power of imagination and those humble portables. Tremendous stuff.
G'day, WarioForums. I'm taking a bit of a risk logging on here, but I don't think CM30 received the email I requested to forward here, so I have no choice. I certainly don't want to leave the joint with a dark cloud hanging over my head. This is a lengthy post, but it is my last one, so bear with me if you have the patience...

As I mentioned during the last 'upset', the computer I use for online tasks (including WarioForums) is a shared computer within a rural community. Due to my online activities being tampered/vandalised on a recurring basis, I had to lodge a caution notice. I was not surprised to learn I'm not the only one here who has been having security issues with sites like Youtube, eBay, Yahoo, etc.

Our internet out here is extremely touch-and-go. On a regular day it can take anywhere between ten seconds and ten minutes just to load one measly tab, and that's if it loads at all. I constantly find myself bashing the keyboard, trying to refresh a page or log out of a site in sheer frustration, only to get that little loading symbol spin infinitely with nothing happening. Internet users of the world have no idea just how bad it can get in certain parts of Australia.

Just typing this message is an ordeal because the service can't keep up with my inputs (I'm not even a fast typist!) It's absolutely woeful, but that's the gravity of the situation. It's a shared service, and a lot of people use it, so once my time is up, I can't sit around and see if I'm properly signed out of everything. It is NOT the sort of service one should ever use for private messaging, online banking, transactions, etc. Unfortunately, ever since I left uni it's all I've had to rely on. I'm just a poor artist who lives in the sticks, trying to get by.

Now, Magma was right when he said I didn't feel like I belong here. I stand out like a sore thumb. I'm a very busy man and I'm really not suited to internet communities (especially video game ones). I'm just some guy from the bush who grew up loving games in the 90's and early 2000's. I thought that joining a forum would be an interesting thing to try, after BlueJackG invited me via Youtube.
During my time here I tried to contribute to the place. I spent a great deal of time writing posts on art appreciation and everything I've learned on the history of the video game medium. I've also had some ripper conversations with members like MonaWare, Glowsquid, Magma, Pigmask Colonel, TB100, Ninja_Cat, J.A.W.F., and several others.

The last fortnight has been extremely rough on me. I recently lost a tonne of important files and family memories (thousands, in fact) after my main drive broke down during a back up session. It's a long story I needn't go into.
The fact I don't have a secure internet resource has been the constant, nagging cherry on the cake. I have become totally disheartened with computers in general. It's just been one huge set back after another, and as a result I've been a little dramatic and depressed over the last week. My mind is totally shot. Even still, it's my problem and I have to face it like a man.

At any rate, I hope you're all having a great June, getting ecstatic about the year ahead! We don't know what the Smash Bros. fellas are cooking up for the Wario fans.
I also reckon we've got a sure thing in some King K. Rool content! I mean, it's only a matter of time, surely!
In addition, while I've never been keen on Waluigi, I think his supporters will get the last word if they stick to their guns. So best of luck on that one, @Just a Wario Fan (Love your Mad Scienstein profile, by the way.)

Before I go, I'd like to thank all the members who made my time here a happy one, espeically @CM30 for resurrecting the lost threads I started, BlueJack ( @Robin ) for inviting me, Pigmask Colonel for his knowledge and gift of the gab, (and for making the only clean, complete VB Wario Land rip currently online). @MonaWare and @Triple M , you were always terrific contributors to forum conversation, and to my music-based "Tunes" threads. I really miss those. And I can't forget Glowsquid, whom I've always respected as a bubbling fountain of obscure knowledge (something we seem to have in common).

The place has changed a bit since I was at my most active here. Now that everything is gone once again it seems totally futile trying to pick up where I left off. This whole debacle has been exhausting, and I can't keep coming in here deleting any vulgar edits or checking to see if my posts are still in tact. I have a lot of work on my plate, and these internet sessions are totally unpredictable. Sometimes I get it for an hour or more, sometimes only 10-15 minutes.

All I can say is make sure you are always logged out properly from any sites or services you use. And if you *can't* be sure, DON'T, DON'T, DON'T use the service for anything other than casual research or browsing. Please!
Anyhow, I have a shit-load of work ahead of me with a deadline to meet, and a family to support. So I will bid you adieu, WarioForums. Thank you for your patience (if you read this far) and for all the good times you've given.
I won't be logging back on after this message, as I don't want to risk another foul up. I seriously don't have the time or mental energy for anymore embarrassing upsets.
One again, my apologies for all the confusion and commotion over the last month. Enjoy your crepes and garlic, Wario fans.

    Lotsa love,

    Angler
Either way, if you want personal info removed, that's one thing, but wrecking conversations is another.

Carl Johnson is a twist and a mystery, all wrapped up in an enigma crust. I'm hoping he releases his autobiography one day, with a film adaptation starring Samuel L. Jackson.
