Wario Land 4 - Super Hard Mode

I thought Super Hard was pretty good, although I'm the kind of guy who just likes a challenge in general. It's certainly fun if you want a more 'precision' based experience than the normal game, and it's even better if you're trying to get every single coin/gem in every level in order to get those gold crowns (or perhaps even world records). Because if you are, you've got an experience where you have to plan every single move and cannot mess up even once, and where you have to think about things like what colour the enemies are or whether to get more coins on your return trip through the level in exchange for losing a few seconds at the end.

The changes make it more of a precision gameplay experience than the puzzle platformer that the main game is. The fact you have to dodge/kill rooms full of monsters at every step means you have to be extremely careful how you tackle each area, and the ridiculously tight time limits mean you have to know exactly when and how to take a jump/try and attack a boss/etc. Spoiled Rotten changes a lot when you've only got fifteen seconds to kill it.

See above.

As far as I know, beat the game on Hard difficulty. Maybe also Normal as well. Do that, and you'll get the option to select it when starting a new save file.
Ah. Well, I think I couldn't find one of the pieces I needed to get to a boss, so yeah...

So I thought I got it, but it turns out that (went to the wiki) you also need at least 10000 coins on every level except hall of hieroglyphs and have all 12 chests remaining at the golden diva. So yeah, not really done yet :p I wonder if I also need the cd's

This is a good description. The challenges are stricter and lead the player towards more nuanced play. In my mind, hard and super hard are distant from the core of the game. Having that leeway, that freedom, to express yourself in the game is important. I prefer more emergent and open gameplay, like Super Mario Bros, as opposed to stricter platforming, like Bit.Trip.Runner.

Because of my coin OCD (MUST GET EVERY SINGLE COIN! MUST BEAT EVERY ENEMY!) super hard mode is a bitch!
It's not so bad during the first part of levels (although still hard) but it gets reeaaally frustrating when you hit the frog switch. Sooo little time.
And if you wanna beat the bosses with all 3 chests without using an item (which are frickin' expensive by the way)
then you pretty much need to do a perfect run or even use tricks (like ground-pound-bouncing on Catbat's head).
The ending is worth it though. ^^

You get frustrated by the coin collecting too? Yeah, I'm the same way. It's why I spent so long on Crescent Moon Village, cause I'm about three coins short of the world record. And they're all in the bloody underwater section...

Can there really be a world record for something like this? I mean there's a maximum amount of money for every level so once you get it all that's it. You can't beat it.

*looks at some of the charts*

But how is this a record if there are literally dozens of people who all have the max amont in a stage like Toy Block Tower? xD
They can't ALL have the world record.
A record is usually about who is the best, not which number of people achieved something. ^^
It doesn't really work here. Unless there is really only one person who got the maximum amount in a level. Like 40 Below Fridge.
