Wario as an Villain

warelander

Some random guy online
Wario is one of the few Nintendo characters that can be considert neutral, but he does have a couple of antagonistic apperances under his belt ( Super Mario Land 2, Brawl, Warios Woods..etc).
Do you like Wario as an Villain or do you prefer the Anti- hero side of him, that we see in his own games
Edit: Shoot, it should say as a Villain can someone pls fix that typo please?

I agree on Wario being better as an anti hero, I did like his antagonistic roles in Mario land 2 and Warios Woods. Brawl on the other hand, was very jarring to me....

I was hoping for that to happen in New Super Mario bros 2 but no, that would have made the game interesting.

I was hoping for Wario to make ANY sort of appearance in New Super Mario Bros 2. I mean, a game where the goal is to become as rich as possible, yet the greediest character ever doesn't make an appearance?

I think this comic sums it up pretty well:

Thanks anonymous guy online who made this!

I was just about to make a thread about this. I think about this from time to time. Honestly, Wario is such a strong character that I think he can be both a villain and a hero. It would be much better than what we're getting now with Bowser being the villain of EVERY SINGLE GAME. It's a joke.

He's not the villain in every game. The Mario RPGs often don't use him, Luigi's Mansion doesn't use him (either game), etc. The only problems are his appearances in Paper Mario Sticker Star (which is representative of how bad the game is in the character department) and those repetitive battles in the last few New Super Mario Bros games. Heck, I kind of liked his appearance in Dream Team, because he was both entertaining and competent at the same time, and did what I always thought he should do to a new villain; stab him in the back and take over.

Besides, don't you agree Wario would make a better playable character than villain in a new Mario game? Forget Wario as a villain, I want another Mario 64 DS style appearance!

Maybe he's not in every single Mario game, but he IS in every single Mario PLATFORMER these days.
Mario Galaxy 1&2, the whole New Super Mario Bros series, 3D Land and World....
Always Bowser. That sucks in my opinion. I'm sick of him.
He's not significant anymore if he appears all the time.
Same with the Koopalings. Seeing them again in New Super Mario Bros. Wii was cool but now they have appeared in 3 games in a row so it doesn't feel special anymore.
Remember when we had cool end bosses like Wart, Tatanga or *ahem* WARIO?!
It bothers me that Miyamoto is seemingly unable or unwilling to create or incorporate new and interesting characters for his most well-known series.

Yeah, I was only talking about platformers when I said that Bowser is overused. (I don't really care for the Mario spin-offs, RPG's aren't my thang) The only potential problem with Wario being a villain is that he doesn't have an army.

Bowser has the Koopa Troop, K. Rool has the Kremlings, and Wart has his Shy Guys. (Or at least he used to, anyway) If Wario is the main antagonist, what would be the enemies throughout the game? Goomba and Koopa Troopa expys again?

That's the thing about Wario. He is essentially a loner. That's why outside of Warioware, he doesn't have a large supporting cast. This is why I have a slight problem with Wario being playable in Mario games. Unless he double-crosses Mario along the road for a buttload of coins or something, I don't think it really meshes really well with his character.
