Princess Shokora - The Full Story video

Can it not just be that Wario and Shokora's relationship was unique and interesting? Seriously, why does everything have to be in a fucking pattern? What sameiness quota has to be met to keep the ratkids happy?

I still don't get Waluigi x Rosalina. I've seen it quite a few times amd I still don't get it aside from it fulfilling some sort of weird niche.
I've seen people pair him with Shokora too, which is disgusting considering the little amount of fanart she gets. It really is just a case of 'pair the spares'; people are willing to ignore every unique trait that defines a character in order to make them fit a mold. Heck, I actually even ship Wario with Shokora, but bringing it down to 'wurr needs princessu 2' is quite insulting considering they're both pretty good characters on their own

Well, could be worse. Could be Waluigi X Captain Syrup.

The only one he has any real connection with is Daisy, who's taken. And who doesn't really like him. I blame Nintendo for neglecting him rather than his design for being bad, though, since I actually think he has a lot of potential as a character.

Doesn't mean people aren't really damn desperate, though. He does not need a pairing. He's not supposed to be liked by anyone in-story.

Let's not make another Waluigi argument, this has nothing to do with him, really.

I nominate Shokora for best 'tutorial' character if she properly qualifies for that. Non-intrusive yet helpful is hard to come by, really.

Please, can we just tell that Waluigi is worthless?

I just don't want to see another topic being emerged and destroyed with something who has nothing about the original content, as I recall, it's a representation of the article about Princess Shokora about how outstanding and great character she is and yet none don't really did "saw" how her character works well markedly. As I remember, it's not called "WALUIGI - THE FULL STORY".

I know you guys want to write your stuffs and you have all the right to do, I don't intercept you for that, it's just...
Don't destroy the comment section with "out-of-subjects" stuffs, especially from a beautiful article liek this one for example.

Also, the person who written the comment maybe:
1) Thought that Shokora represented as the "princess" for Wario, but totally drove away with his/her babbling of "each plumber needs a princess" yadda yadda...
2) Doesn't know anything about Wario Land 4 contents, etc. and commented it because its a "Mario game"
3) Another victim of illegal products.
In another words, I came back again to say I still like the representation and shall wait of more content from you guys. <33

To be fair, that's a pretty low bar. Other 'tutorial' or 'help' characters in games range from somewhat tolerable (Prince Dreambert, the King of Red Lions) to annoying as hell (Navi, E Gadd in Dark Moon, Fi...)

Above: Oh god, the bad memories...

Above: Oh jesus no. Be thankful you didn't have that owl 'helping' you through the Hall of Hieroglyphs...

That's the shitty thing about it. Navi continues to live on in infamy yet it's pretty much certain that Shokora will never get the recognition she deserves, not in scope nor in appreciation. I'm convinced that she'll continue to be taken at face value and shunned as a Peach knockoff or a contributor to a pattern, just as I've seen her classed as in the past. You know the frustration a lot of Wario fans have for Smash Bros since they feel it failed to represent Wario in an accurate way? I feel that same frustration for the extent to which Wario characters have been ignored in favour of simplifications.

I'm willing to bet a lot of people think Wario's greed trait is something that's only there since it's been told on occasion through sports games or fan interpretation, yet in actual fact it's something that stemmed from actions taken in his games. It's because of the other characters in said games such as Syrup, Rudy and Shokora that it's able to be properly conveyed, since said character help drive positive or negative consequences for Wario's behaviour on behalf of the player. I think a lot more is owed to them than is issued as of yet, since they're either not in the fanbase's spotlight, or not given noteworthy reception.

To be honest, by this point I've caved in to the fact that that's all Wario Land characters will ever be taken for. Nobody seems very keen to understand or support them in the same way that other characters are backed, and I can't tell why that is. I know me and Mel have both spent a lot of time bitching about this and it might be getting on everyone's collective nerves, but even in this very thread it's become increasingly clear that nobody wants to talk about them if they're given half a chance to talk about other characters instead. Granted, one of the things I value when it comes to characters in games is how well their assets are integrated into the gameplay itself, which is something that I found was particularly well-done when it came to the Wario Land games.

If there's something that's been learned from piecing these articles together and seeing the response to them, it's that it doesn't seem to be something people are interested in. Both cases became less about the merit of the Wario Land character and more about others. The seemingly inherent importance of structure came up several times and really, I feel I am at least partially to blame. Nevertheless, at this point it seems unnecessary to continue the mantra of "This and this are better than that and deserve more love" or whatever. I think if people perceived the Wario Land characters as deserving of more than has been given, that would've happened by now. If the legacy of Wario Land mattered to people the same way a lot of other game franchises do, I feel as if it would've been brought up a long time ago.

I know this seemed to be more about the cast as a whole than Shokora, but bear in mind Shokora is probably the broadest example. Once more, I understand repeating the same schlock over and over to the point most probably consider it pretentious isn't exactly going to enhance our lives, but that's just the thing, man... It kinda sucks.

I feel your pain. The Wario series and its cast has been thoroughly ignored for years, especially by Nintendo fans in general.

But to some degree, I can see why. Remember, on this very... AHDD orientated internet, the only way a character will get attention is either if they become a 'meme' or they're absolutely horrible to the point everyone hates them. On the one side, you've got the Captain Falcons and Fawful's of the world, characters who are basically internet humour personified. They're likely to get a lot of attention simply for being like the average internet user in terms of humour On the other, you have the Navis and Fis and Bowser Jrs of the world. A lot of people really hate them, so they become rather visible. People like to be negative.

Unfortunately, Princess Shokora and a lot of our other favourite characters are... stuck in the middle. They're not horrible to the point you have to rant about them, and they're not 'funny' in the same sense as whoever's popular this week.

Still, I'd say to keep somewhat optimistic. Remember, no one seemingly 'cares' yet for another reason; there isn't a big Wario fanbase yet. If we can encourage one to form via sites like this, then you'll see more fans for characters like Captain Syrup and Princess Shokora.

The only reason most of the Wario girls aren't popular (aside from Ashley who fits more into that realm "typical Japanese design" than Perfect Form Shokora and Syrup does) because they get little exposure, Nintendo seems uninterested in them, and I guess - for some reason, they prefer to favor characters like Rosalina and Palutena (more "perfect" girl characters) over them.

Dunno I might be reaching tho

I actually wanted to bring more attention to the entire Music Box World and it's people, not just Rudy The Clown.
Some of you might remember how i wanted to write a fanfic about the backstory and future of Music Box World, as well as the brothers Basketball Bunny / Socker Bunny.
I never got to it, but the fact is, even us, Wario fans, who have completed Wario Land 3, i don't think most of us have thought to deeply about the backstory of Music Box World. How their lives worked. Where did Rudy come from. Who hid the treasures. How are there treasures in levels that didn't exist yet. Wario changes the world, but has it been different before?
These are all interesting questions, but I haven't seen anyone do any theory on this yet. And i never managed to write my fanfic, because I just don't have the skills pr motivation...

DO IT.
PLS DO IT. Because if you don't I don't think ANYBODY else will.

Wario fandom might be small, but if anything the main problem seems to be the attitude more than the size of it. Most people will recognize the WL series as a great bunch of games and call themselves a fan, but they never go beyond that? Like they'd do with other series where they have fun just making content for the sake of it, I mean. There is SO much potential to grab shit and run with it, starting with Syrup's gang, going over Shoko's Kingdom and even the whole Music Box world like goldenpyramid up there just said, but there is little to no motivation to do anything because it feels like everything people care about is Waluigi and Ashley.

I know Nintendo seems to be pretending Wario Land doesn't exist, but is it a reason to follow everything they say we should focus on? Heck, I like to believe that if Syrup were to be included as a DLC in Mario Kart or some bullshit and was given half the attention the new smash content is being given, everyone would claim her as a waifu right there (ykno, like how everyone cared SO much about Punch Out and Wii Fit before Sm4sh happened). Are we waiting for the guys up there to tell us when is the right time to do fanart without feeling pathetic for caring too much or something? because I mean, eventually we will get bored of saying how much Wario's rep in smash sucks, don't you think we should start just... encouraging/doing things? projects? contests? Something beyond agreeing on what everybody else has already said?

sorry if I sound negative, I just want a fanbase to share stuff with without feeling like it doesn't matter ;~;

Look at SEGA's NiGHTS games. Basically forgotten, yet big fan support helped it get more recognized. Wario's series' are in that weird position of being 1Mill+ sellers, but lacking any major fan-support. It's weird, but the best thing you can do is to keep supporting it. Wario Land music in Sm4sh and Shake it in general means Ninty still knows Wario Land exists.

I mean, if Kid Icarus can come back after 25 years, Wario Land can't be TOO hurt by 8, right?

Yes! ( I was going to say "Exactly!" but that reminded me too much of that girl from treehouse live >.>)
As they say... you hit the nail on the head! Thank you!
When feeling similar, I created this thread: http://warioforums.com/index.php?threads/future-projects.441/
And now the Wario Land 3 hack has clearly failed, perhaps I should find something else to do.
