A Retro Studios developed Wario Land game?

It's obviously something I suspect is unlikely to happen, but does anyone else think this could be the greatest thing ever if it did get made?

Because as I mentioned before, Retro have quite a bit of experience making games in the Wario Land design sense. Like how the Wario Land series is very much like Donkey Kong Country (especially in the SNES games) in its level and world design, with a mix of overly naturalistic, gritty industrial and super wacky environments. The concept art for the Golden Temple in Returns is in some cases practically a blueprint for the design of a Wii or Wii U Wario Land game:

Additionally, I've always thought the music of the Donkey Kong Country series (and Retro's games in general) always seemed like it'd work quite well in a new Wario Land title. I mean, the third and fourth game were definitely heading towards more of that 'style':

Heck, while Wario Master of Disguise wasn't exactly seen as a good game, the music in it kind of shows how well some heavy metal/electric guitar based themes similar to those in Tropical Freeze would work in a new Wario platformer.

Add how good Retro's level and boss design is, and I think they're a pretty good choice of team for a new Wario Land title on Wii U. And let's not forget one other thing...

Nintendo bothers to market their games. So if they did make a new Wario Land game, we might actually see adverts and attempts at marketing it rather than the game being quietly ignored like Game & Wario and co.

So yes, does anyone else think Retro could make a good Wario Land game? It's a pity they probably won't due to all the bad reactions to some people when they announced Tropical Freeze's existence (a third 2D platformer in a row would probably cause some Nintendo 'fans' to have a break down).

I would LOVE that! They have adopted the DKC series so well that I think they would do a great job at a Wario game! As long as they ignore the Wario Ware series. The two series should be kept seperate.

Yeah, a Retro Studios made Wario Land game would be pretty awesome, especially if it was as epic looking as this:

And definitely keep it seperate from WarioWare. They're both good series, but... they're not the same thing. Reminds me of some old fan game I saw which had Wario save Mona from WarioWare like Princess Peach. Kind of insulting to both series.

That too, although I'll give the game credit, it had hopes of being decent via the characters and music. It just screwed everything else up.

As much as I like Retro, I think they should stick to DK. They aren't the developer I would pick for Wario.

You know who I would pick? WayForward. I believe they would make an excellent Wario Land.

Considering how faithful Retro has tried to be towards the original DKC trilogy, I'd say they'd be one of the best choices for a Wario Land reboot. They seem to get 'retro' (pun absolutely intended hue) platformers pretty well.

There is a very odd sort of atmosphere with the Wario Land series that's difficult to capture, though. Something many other developers can't seem to capture (as evidenced by MOD and Shake It). Treasure is the only developer to have gotten it right IMO.

I'm not extremely familiar with WayForward, but whenever the topic of a Wario Land reboot comes up, they are one of the choices I see a lot. So I suppose they'd be good for the job.

Wayforward is the team behind Shantae, a series that draws much inspiration from Wario Land. They are fantastic games, filled with beautiful sprite work and animation, plus they are wildly hilarious and clever.

Don't get me wrong, I think Retro would do a good job, but when it comes to finding a developer that could truly capture the spirit of Wario Land, I think Wayforward is the obvious choice.
