Where should the Wario Land series go from here?

As you've likely all realised by now, the Wario Land series has kind of varied a lot in terms of gameplay style over the years it's been going. From linear 2d platformers to puzzle metroidvania type games to fast paced action adventures with beat em up elements, the series has generally changed gameplay style significantly every few years.

So what's next? Do you want another Wario Land 2/3 style puzzle adventure game? A title with more beat em up elements and action? Another Wario Land 4 style game?

Or should the series go somewhere else entirely? And if so, where?

Probably something completely different again. The Wario Land series has always been on the front foot with adapting to different types of design:

Wario Land - Remixing Mario platforming by removing acceleration and focusing on dynamic enemy interacitons (picking up and throwing enemies etc.).
Wario Land 2 - Transformations. Branching level threads and a coherent continunity between levels.
Wario Land 3 - More Metroid-esque level progression.
Wario Land 4 - Folded level design.
Wario Land: Shake It - Motion controls.

Anything new should have a new progression structure as it's a bit of a tradition for each game in the series to change up the way the player moves from one level to the other. Otherwise, I'm sure that when Nintendo find a new idea that'd suit Wario, they'll do a good job with it.

I am still in for a "Wario Bros." game, where you can actually play as Wario and Waluigi who are hunting for loot, but in a fun way (see the intro of Mario Power Tenis GC, fun like that).

Something new would be gret, yeah! (If done well, of course)
But if it had to be in an old style then I'd say I wanna see another game like 2 and 3.
I love the more exploration/puzzle-focused gameplay of them. They could focuse more on transformations and also come up with some new ones.
The no-death mechanic was also great for being so unique.

Hey, that actually sounds pretty interesting! Perhaps they can mix it with the puzzle platformer gameplay of Wario Land 2 and 3, and have different transformations and things affecting the two characters. Sort of like a weird cross between Mario & Luigi and Wario Land.

Like say, Wario getting to pick up Waluigi when he gets set on fire or something and use him as a missile to take out enemies or obstacles. Or use the two characters thing to have two transformations active at the same time, with the effects of both being in play.

I'd like to see a multiplayer Wario Land game. Player two could be Waluigi or Mona from Warioware.

Her Warioware profile even says that Wario sometimes takes her on adventures with him.

Hey, you're a new face around here! Well, I'm Mona! I scoop gelato at the gelataria-when I'm not at school or making games, that is. So anyway, you should know that fortune-hunter Wario has inspired many of my strange games! He's always one degree ahead of cool, and he's even let me tag along with him on some of his money-grubbing adventures!

I'd want a new Wario Land specifically for the 3DS, though it being on both 3DS and Wii wouldn't hurt.
Oh yeah, it should also be like Wario Land 4, creative level design and all the sweet power-ups we seen in that game.

Maybe they could make a game for the WII U where you can go from the screen on TV to the gamepad. Its unique, it uses the gamepad and it should have many unique level designs. Maybe a level where you play as two Wario's (one on the TV and one on the gamepad)?

I would love to see a Wario game for the Wii U. I just got a Wii U as a gift this past Christmas and I'm always looking for new games for it. So far, all I have are Mario games for it. But I agree, I think it would be interesting to see what they would do with the Wario game since the Wii U has that game pad instead of a normal controller.

I think a multiplayer game would be fantastic for a Wario Land Wii U title or 3DS title. I actually think Waluigi shouldn't be player 2. i think its a funny gag how he's ONLY in sports titles. Player 2 should be either a Warioware character or an original one! Maybe if its success Waluigi can be phased out as Warios partner aha.

We've had Yarn platformers, Shake it was Anime Style, and Pop up book RPGs.

What if Wario Land 6 or whatever was stop motion?! or Clay!

Multiplayer would be the most logical next step, but how would it work?
It would need a complete gameplay revamp considering that the past games were made with Wario in mind...
I can see multiplayer in an Wario World sequel thought(the original needet it anyway, in my opinion).

Perhaps introducing Waluigi and giving him more of a name for himself should be part of our "next logical step"! :D
