I'm afraid of getting a new Wario Land at this point...

What do I mean by this?

Well, just look at how he's being portrayed now.
Everybody thinks he's just a gross, dumb fool. They think toilet humor is part of his character and that the Wario Waft is his trademark move.

Imagine the Wario Land license fell into the wrong hands at a time like this and some foolish development studio made a Wario Land with a Wario like that.
Imagine a game filled with poop and fart jokes everywhere , characters you can't take seriously (so basically Master of Disguise), Wario using farting as an attack ...
It makes me cringe just thinking about it!

What do you think? It's certainly possible, right?

Actually...I'm not afraid. Shake It! came after Brawl, and it had none of it. They knew Sakurai Wario was gross and farted, but he did none of that in the game. And WarioWare games continued to be made, and he continued not to fart in any of them.

Knowing Nintendo and how badly they treat Wario, everything is possible, but I don't believe it.

He actually did fart in Shake it, in one of his idle animations, but the difference between Smash and Shake it is that the former plays the vulgarity up as if it was his main character trait, while the latter (or any other non Smash Wario appearence, for that matter) focuses mainly on his greed and his Strenght.
Wario beeing vulgar isn't the problem, it's Sakurais fetish of focusing on a actually really minor character trait and nothing else.

Didn't Master of Disguise have toilet humour in it?

But it all depends on who handles it. I wouldn't trust say, Sakurai or Miyamoto with a new Wario Land game. But I'm confident the other game devs/producers/whatever could made a game where Wario is portrayed seriously, without all the fart jokes and stuff.

I guess he did, I just forgot about it because it was minor. And yeah, MoD had that hilarious mini-game where you lined up things, and one of them was excrement to be thrown into a toilet...but still, that wasn't Wario defecating (ew), just a mini-game.

Like I said in other topics, I don't mind Wario being gross as long as that's not his main character trait. In fact, wasn't picking his nose the gross thing he was known for? Not farting.

Either way the grossness was supposed to be a side effect of a true character trait. Being a rude jerk. That's why he picked his nose and scratched his butt, because he doesn't give a damn. He's not polite, so he'll occasionally do something gross.

^That's exactly the thing. Wario's body doesn't magically produce extreme quantities of explosive flatulence. He doesn't fart just for the sake of farting. He farts for the same reason as anyone else, except he doesn't care if anyone's around to hear it. If he has to fart, he'll fart. If he has to scratch an itch, he'll scratch the itch. If he has to pick his nose, he'll pick his nose.

Sakurai is completely ignorant of Wario's main character traits and instead portrays him as this goofy weirdo who farts a lot just because it's funny.
