Do you have any pet peeves?

When encyclopedias or travelling guides use terms like ¨Christian art¨ or ¨[insert any faith or religion] architecture¨ for art or architecture that has absolutely nothing to do with religion.
Same here, Extends to anything religion takes credit for IMO. Someone survives dangerous situation (like surgery)? Work of god!!! Got an A+ on your math test? Couldn't have done it without god!!! A person's hard work pays off, not his/her faith.

I think it's been said that God himself wants us to make something out of ourselves rather than simply rely on him for everything.

Whether your a christian or not, I do think that's good advice; don't be entirely dependent on God, get off your butt and do it yourself.

One of my own online friends is a christian; he actually gets offended when God gets used as an excuse for stupidity, because he believes you actually have to earn that blessing by actually giving it your best shot. Prayer alone isn't some get-out-of-jail-free card, no matter what your beliefs.

When you go to KFC and they give you a cookie with your meal. Who's the fatass who eats cookies and chicken!?!? Just gimme another drumstick or a biscuit instead. But noooooooo its not allowed, Bitch i paid you money and i'm giving you the cookie back now don't act like there's not 20 trays of fresh biscuits behind you!

You pay for as part of the meal, i save 50 cents without the cookie. Unless it works different where you are at in which case this is a conspiracy to spread the influence of the KFC cookie regime. If Popeye's doesn't defeat KFC then the cookie regime will brainwash everyone. They've already got you ShyGuy!

There's no KFC near where I live and the only times I've bought from a KFC I don't remember actually getting a cookie. I got gypped!

Good the cookie regime hasn't reached, You only get gypped when you don't stay loyal to our overlords at Popeye's.

In all seriousness KFC have the cookies for certain meals so that may be it.

I've never heard of a Popeye's in Germany. ....what does Popeye have to do with chicken anyway? He'd be better suited for a spinach company. :S8V:
Ah, I just assumed you where somwhere in NA, here we have a restraunt called Popeye's that rivals KFC. It has zero to do with Popeye the Sailor Man. I sure wish it did. We do have Popeye Spinach here which DOES reference the comics.

Popeye is ma jam.

Oh, where have all the well-animated slapstick cartoons gone?

Lovin the episode picked, "Can ya take it?".

Style's change over time, Back then slapstick was the go to and now its usually dialogue based. I'm sure slapstick will make a come back one day.

Thing is, good slapstick requires good animation. Varied animation, lots of animation frames, expensive animation. That was the norm back then, now it's not.
It's much easier to draw a bunch of characters standing around and talking, where every character looks the same in almost every scene.
But it requires much more time to animate people running, fighting, smashing, bashing, destroying, making faces, doing unique actions, etc.
In those cartoons every single animation was unique. They wouldn't just use the same animations over and over again in every episode. (Looking at you, Family Guy)
And since everything had to be unique they thought they might as well go nuts and be as creative and energetic as they could.

That's also what I miss, the creativity. The Fleischer cartoons had visual jokes in almost every scene. Cartoon logic at its finest!

He's literally punching the colors (or lack thereof) out of him, leaving just the outlines. That's genious!
That's what I love about it. They did everything that could be done with animation, especially the things that could ONLY be done in animation.

That's also why I hate THIS incarnation of Popeye...
latest

This is what you get when you want slapstick but have no budget.

Oh i'm sure there's creativity, just not everybody has it today. But yeah animation is expensive but i guess they don't care. They just want money. Probably why Popeye stook around even though things went down hill.
