I thought the game had more twists and turns than I expected! I was really certain that Tiaramisu was in disguise. trying to fool Wario and beat him to the Wishstone. I would never have thought he was actually being a good CEO instead of your typical greedy man in suit.
And I also thought the lore around Terrormisu was interesting, with her taking advantage of people's greed (like with that Pharaoh). Good thing Wario's greed always prevails.
It was more like a book instead of an action comic (like previous Land games) from the stuff I've seen of Master of Disguise. I find it to be fitting if the art style was less like an action comic. This basically means the dialogue just feels like filler unless there was some flashy cutscenes to keep me entertained. And honestly there needs to be better let's plays of this game because most of them would be really long or seem to be poor quality... but that's another story.
Yeah, the games story was definentaly one of it's stronger points.
I especially like how Cannoli progresivly comes to thermes with himself that Wario is the better thief, hell Cannoli in general is a cool rival, real shame that we are likely never going to see him again...
The lore about Terrormisu was okay (although I don't remember much of it) but what really destroys it is her design. It just doesn't fit anything. Neither her "human" form nor the giant Peach-like version. She was supposed to be a demon, right? And in the cutscenes with the scrolls she looked interesting to say the least. But then she comes out and is just a lady in a dress who turns into a giant ugly lady in a dress.
I think her design is meant to be crazy and distorted. She must think of herself as a beautiful lady, but she's so rotten, that she ends up becoming an ugly princess-like instead, who gets even uglier when angry. Maybe she absorbed the ugliness of that pharaoh somehow?
The story, what I got through of it, at least, actually wasn't bad.
That said, the gameplay was crap, which is unfortunate since I expected so much better. I gave up out of frustration due to how cheap it could get. Needless to say, it should have had a different team involved.
