Wa ha ha! In the Variety Pack, one subgame stands out - it's Daily Grind, a 2D sidescroller where you can play as Wario (and his friends), bashing your way through enemies and obstacles and collecting items. The levels are generated forever until you lose, so while the layouts are simple, the game is effectively infinite!

As a Wario Land fan, this is the closest we've gotten to a new Wario platforming adventure in over a decade. It may not be as complex, but I still appreciate its inclusion in the game, when I want my Wario sidescrolling fix.

I'm still hoping for a proper Wario Land on Switch, but until then, the Daily Grind's a great way to pass the time.
 
It's really fun! Certainly the highlight of the one-player minigames.

I try to go for both maximum contracts and all character switch icons for the sake of the end-of-level bonus but some characters are not good at killing enemies and are likely to make you lose contracts. I wonder if I wouldn't better off just switching until I get Ashley and focus on survival.
 
Yeah. Any of the characters who have to rely on grappling to advance (9-Volt, 18-Volt, Pyoro) can get really hard to use in the later stages.

I switch when I can, but I avoid characters that I know I'll have trouble with, even if it means a short-term score loss.
 
Yeah it is a really fun mode! I've been playing it near non stop recently, on the desperate hope of reaching as many levels in as I could. Sadly, I keep messing up around level 15 or so, lol.
