I'm generally not a fan of Tomoya Tomita's work.
He never blew me away with anything that he’s ever done. He’s never come up with much. He’s always been a very decent composer that could give you a good soundtrack. As far as being like mind blowing…he’s always a guy that will give you a “5 Out Of 10” soundtrack every game. He’s going to give you all he can give you and that’s just my opinion.
He was a very good, medium, mediocre composer.

Mario Galaxy, definitely, but that doesn't stop me from loving a whole lot of Shake It's soundtrack. Wavy Waters (super love this song), Mt. Lava Lava, Stonecarving City, and Whoopsy Desert are some of my favorite tracks (though I also am a big fan of Plumber's Cave). Certainly not mediocre, though. Mediocre in my mind means unmemorable. If Shake It's music wasn't catchy, THEN it would be mediocre.
Oh yeah, and Launchpad Labyrinth is really good, too, though the intro for that track gets on my nerves.

You gotta hand it to ol' Tomato, though, his percussion tracks were definitely top-notch when creativity was concerned.
