Could Wario defeat Mario now?

CM30

Diamond City Mayor
Diamond City Leader
He may have lost back in Super Mario Land 2 and Mario and Wario, but that's back in the 90s. So what about now? Could Wario manage to defeat Mario with all his skills from the Wario Land series, as well as careful use of his transformations?

And does anyone else kind of wish to see a game where he actually does win in the end?

Wario always could he just decided that Mario's castle was too dinky and so he didn't really try against Mario since he knew he could do better

Not unless Mario goes Mario Blanco who is the strongest fighter in all parallel dimensions. His power level is infinity times infinity plus 3.

Wario can definitely beat Mario but it doesn't matter how much better Mario's opponent is. Since Mario is Nintendo's golden child Mario always wins. In the case the Mario does lose he will win at the end of the game in one way or another. Even back the i think Wario should've won in SML2 but he didn't because its a Mario game. WL:SML3 takes place after SML2 and in Wario's game he was stronger than Mario in his games what with is Should/Elbow/Upper Arm Dash and that weapons and environmental hazards are the only way to hurt him.

Wario could've been training with Beerus during the years of WarioLand's absence and he'll still lose if he challenges Mario.

I think in terms of raw feats, I think Wario trumps Mario. Back in SMW2, Wario had only made his first appearance, and by that point didn't have all his abilities and quirks that we know and love him for now. Perhaps I'm fanboying, but it seems like it'd be kind of hard to beat a guy who smashes through metal and stone like paper, causes earthquakes with one arm, throws around enemies who are much larger and heavier than him with no visible effort, and is even stated to be downright unkillable in Wario Lands 2 and 3. Wario seems to be Mario but exaggerated in most ways; he's stronger, he's more durable, he's fatter and of course greedier! Like 3rd Wario Brother said though, Mario has plot armor (and quite a number of impressive feats of his own) and if a fight between them was written by Nintendo, Mario would undoubtedly win.

So yes, Wario would be able to beat Mario, Wario was able to beat Mario from the start! But the luck factor and plot convenience make it so Mario always wins in the end... Poor Wario...
It's pretty much also the reason why Wario often tends to be a designated loser or chew toy in a lot of Mario spin off intros/other cutscenes and materials, him being a rival to the main character pretty much dooms him to always be the butt of the joke or the losing party and it can get really grating at times.

Wario: The butt of the joke! hue

Well in SML2 Wario didn't lose to Mario. Wario lost to the player who played Mario. If Mario had an invincibility star he's guaranteed to win but other than that Wario outlasts Mario in every other sense. In Smash though Mario would win based on his tools.

Though, Wario can outsmart FLUDD and swallow his projectiles, but yes, a skilled Mario can beat up any Wario.
