Including Wario World and Wario: Master of Disguise? Personally I'd say Wario Land 4 is probably the easiest one (at least on normal mode), while Wario Land 3 would be probably on the more difficult end. But what do you think? -

I also thought it was too hard as a kid. I played the 3DS Version so I exploited the hell of the assist mode. Made it to Cackletta and... lost my cartridge along with Sticker Star when I was at my grandparents house. I only beat it 4-5 years...
