Remove the ShoutBox?

I kind of feel like unless the ShoutBox is moderated it does no good to have it. Metal I would say is largely to blame but the other side is also blowing things up as well. There is no middle. Aside from that, lack of moderation is still a problem and who knows what else could happen. It's just being stupidly misused and in it's current state I don't think it's beneficial.

I can agree there, although I wouldn't say remove it, but hide it or restrict it for certain members, which means removing it from the main page. We still have good talks there, some even roleplayed!
I agree with you on the moderation part, and we've talked about this in the past, so we'll have to see what is the best solution. I'm not in favor of removing the feature, but something has to be done, mostly for the future.

I agree with most of the OP, except I dont really feel that it should be removed.

Pornographic images arent okay, I dont want to see these things just as much as anyone else.

Its also not okay to constantly villify the person who did something wrong, it creates division, which leads to fighting on the site. Once its taken care of, drop the subject and move on.

But I dont think the shoutbox should be removed. Its a fun feature that people enjoy. And maybe people can be mature and moderate it themselves. If the problem happens again, then everyone should just leave the shout box to let the offender know they arent interested in such things. And do it maturely too, dont make a huge fuss and cause a scene.

My further thoughts:what Metal is posting is trivial but he has nothing to gain from posting so he can stop. The other side can afford to be less sensitive I mean it's the fucking internet. It's like that stupid debate Kyon had over swearing.

I can understand getting grumpy about lewd images, I have actually reported others for that very thing (Metal is not the only member to do this).

Im not upset that people dont like it at all. But when they bring it up again later after its done, thats not helpful either.

But, I do wonder if the site is mature enough to handle a shout box. I mean sometimes things are gonna happen that people dont like, can they handle just moving on and come back later without making a fuss? Or will they have to make it into a huge deal? Would hope people can chill out and come back later and let the Admin know : p

That excuse about it being "the internet" is getting old, this site is for all ages, let people have a free space without those types of content. No excuses here!

And swearing is fine, as long as you don't overdo it, because if you do, you starts to sound stupid. People should be able to have arguments using proper words, no?

Personally, I should become the new MOD because I am a powerful leader.
1) I am a strong thinker and NOT a follower
2) I am fair minded and judge individuals by their BEHAVIOR not my biases when it comes for it
3) I have great ties with everyone in fact, I know every language

I kind of just didn't think it was that big of a deal though it was reasonable reaction to react negatively.

How about this, for one you have to sign in to see it, Shoutbox-sama may turn off potential members. Next is make it a privelage, We should make a thread to record notable moments in the shoutbox since its real time and hard to moderate. We shall use that as a point of reference to see who can and can't use the shoutbox at any given point in time. This however is going to be a community effort and may be a tad unorthodox method. Just an idea.

I think this is the right idea, honestly. the Shoutbox can be pretty cool at times

The only two people I've seen make a stink in that Shoutbox are Metal and Blanche. If we're having a boring or bad day, we should take it elsewhere and not vent malice or post porno, respectively. I'm not afraid to speak the truth, because I treat everyone with equal respect.

Blanche, I don't think anyone would want you as a moderator here after the nasty things you said about this place, during your last episode. Sometimes you literally explode and start shouting expletives or insulting others. Other times you try to interrupt a chat by swamping it with Bruno Mars praise, just like Kyon used to do with Ashley.
I don't know whether you're bored or just want attention, but it's like you want people to feel intimidated by you, like a tyrant or a bully. I know for a fact most people here are too afraid to say anything, because you're a loose cannon. You've really got to stop posting first, then regretting/editing later.

Now I know there's good in you, because I've seen your good side before. You didn't act like this to begin with, so I get the feeling you're going through a rough patch in life or something's got your goat. Well, most of us here are more than happy to talk and listen. We've got the cream of the crop here, Metal included. I've had some great talks with him. He's just got a lot of "amor" on his mind. Heheh. Those hot-blooded Spanish.... But my point is, try to use this place as a lifeline, not a punching bag.
