"Random"? I'm not stating it as fact or assuming anything, let alone "accusing" Takeuchi, as you put it in your own hyperbolic terms. That comment was just a throwaway theory that crossed my mind, and I don't actually believe for one second that Takeuchi and the current Ware team had anything to do with something as trivial as the damn buttons on Wario's alternate costume. Hence "I wonder if..." rather than "I am 100% sure that..."

However, I think it's not a completely "random" theory if you take into consideration the fact that Takeuchi himself worked closely with the Smash team on a few things in Wii U & 3DS, such as the 2D Ware trophies. I wouldn't be surprised if he had input on Ashley's model, too. If Ashley ascends to the playable club this time around, I think it's even more likely that Takeuchi will have some involvement. He's proven himself very close to the character and seems to essentially supervise all of her appearances outside of the Ware series -- not that any of this factually strengthens my theory about the buttons, but you get the idea. It's just a possible point of discussion for us poor Wario-fan saps.

Soz. Got unwarrantedly pissy there.

Relevant to Wario :

Judging from the E3 demo it seems that Mario has lost his Wario and Fire Mario outfits.

If I had to guess it's because they are the closest to the Builder and Wedding outfits in terms of colors, but they are still pretty baffling cuts. The Fire Mario colors are his most iconic alternate palette and giving him a Waluigi outfit, with no Wario outfit in sight, is just plain off.

Damn it, what does Sakurai have against the Fire Mario costume? First he waits until Brawl to even put it in the game in the first place, and now he takes it out for no reason whatsoever. Does he just personally dislike the way it looks? Because it's easily one of the most visually iconic things in gaming. I'd bet money that the vast majority of the world's population would recognize Mario's fire costume specifically as his fire costume before they'd recognize 95% of the other characters in Smash Bros, period. Just makes no sense to exclude it.

Sakurai is an enigma sometimes.

I wish we'd get Wario's explorer hat or mini Wario's hair style as costumes. I'd probably use explorer Wario a lot just because Land was the first GB I ever played when I learned what a Game Boy even was.

What? Discussing something other than Wario's appearance in the game (or Waluigi's?) isn't off-topic. It's not as if somebody derailed the thread into a bun-fight exclusively about Daisy. It was literally two consecutive posts about something that isn't Wario. Why can't this thread simply act as a general Smash Bros. Ultimate discussion hotspot? Let the discussion go where it wants to go. There's only so much that can be said about Wario at this early stage.

I wasn't thinking when I said that....

Plus his down throw actually looks like the Ground Pound. Still wish they'd remove his traits that involve him being gross. (Except in the Final Smash, that's when it was actually funny). Too bad Smash defines what people think of the characters.

Yeah, the way Wario's personality is defined in Smash is... not great to say the least. Shame he couldn't have been shown as more of a badass, and gotten a cool reputation like Captain Falcon did.

Still, at least the shoulder barge is back, so things are getting a little better.

And thus Ashley has been deconfirmed, kind of a shame, since WarioWare Gold made me start to warm up to her again, but ah well, the Belmonts, King K Rool and the return of the Gamer stage are all major hype.
