Lewd word for poop when poop is already lewd. I do not like the word.

Eh, profanity is just weird in general. Speaking from experience, nobody in America cares if you say bloody, bugger, or twat in conversation. That's definitely not the case in the UK.

ass is considered a bad word as well even though its meaning isn't bad. what makes them bad is the negative connotation attached to them since they are often used as insults.

Well think about the worst swear words in German and then try to figure those out.

the only German profanity I know is "fick dich"

I guess america is just really sensitive towards words.
Shitting is completely normal, natural and everybody does it. Acting like it's this hugely offensive thing is pretty immature, if you ask me.

Besides, by acting upset over it you just give the word more power.
If you wanna complain about "shit" you'll also have to complain about
poop, crap, scat, shite, doodoo, feces, manure, stool, bowel movement, etc. cuz it all means the same goddamn thing.
It's all so arbitrary. I hate shit like that.

What annoys me even more though, is when people on Youtube censor themselves saying "shit" but they don't censor "crap" or words like bitch or asshole and they still talk at length about hardcore sex.
If you wanna run a PG channel, make it PG. BUT DON'T SAY CERTAIN WORDS JUST SO YOU CAN BLEEP THEM OUT LATER. I mean what's the bloody point!? It's not even for the comedic effect or anything. It's just annoying.

Well as it's been brought up before it's usually the connotation of the swear word not what it means. No one gets offended by the term "defecating" which is proper term but shit just has a very vulgar connotation and I guess is just not a good kind of slang. I do agree on the inconsistency though. Now I'm getting the impression that you swear a lot in person.

"Shitting is completely normal, natural and everybody does it. Acting like it's this hugely offensive thing is pretty immature, if you ask me." We all do it, yes. But that doesnt mean we need to talk about it. I for one am aware that we all do it, but am still very grossed out about it, and do not want to talk about how we do it. Somethings are better kept to themselves. Not everything needs to be discussed.

I realize it means "poop", but it's not always used that way, like the way you used it "I hate shit like that" you weren't talking about poop. It has other meanings depending on how you use it. Also I think it's usually adults/elderly that get offended by it since it's disrespectful

I am a supporter of decency in society : p The word "stuff" works just as well as that word. Maybe if its a situation where such a strong word is meaningful, then it can be excused. But in normal settings, its just a lewd word.

"oh stuff, I've lost my keys!"

"Oh, stuff and fluff" is something I'm pretty sure I've heard Winnie the Pooh say.

I just don't see "shit" as that bad of a swear. Crap sounds a lot stronger to me. Maybe it's really just different in the US. In germany it's less about which words you use and more about what you're actually stating.

Sure, you can't say "son of a bitch" in a kids show but I'm talking about adults talking to other adults. Most of us here on the forum are over 18, right? Even if not, on the internet I treat everyone as potentially mature. And I don't follow the notion that a kid becomes an asshole from knowing swear words. Especially not "shit".
