We've been dealing with a lot of spammers recently, and they've kinda filled the user approval queue with a lot of obviously fake accounts that need clearing out. We've also had a few email delivery problems, and those aren't helping matters either.
Hopefully we'll be able to get the latter fixed soon, and find a solution for the former in due time.
