Could Wario Master of Disguise help explain Wario Land 4?

Yeah, it's a strange theory this. But if you've watched a walkthrough of (or played) Wario Master of Disguise, you'll remember the wishstone text:

Long ago, there lived on this continent a king consumed by the sickness of greed. The king was an evil man, and greatly desired a granted wish above all things. With proud heart, the king called forth a demon who agreed to grant his wish. But it came at a terrible price, for the demon asked him to starve his people. And thus the king agreed. But the king soon learned that demons are sly, and his wish was honored not. The demon stole all the king held dear, and crumbled his land to dust. Time rolled past, the living perished, and all the land became as a desert. The king’s palace was to a pyramid transformed, and sunk under the sand. But yet the king–a soulless, lifeless thing–lived on in his dead house.

And it then struck me...

This could apply very easily to Wario Land 4, couldn't it?

The Golden Diva is pretty similar in personality to the pharoah in Master of Disguise, an evil person consumed by greed.

She definitely wants power above everything else.

The pyramid part... that's pretty obvious. Heck, even the desert part isn't too far off, since this jungle is seemingly four steps away from the desert in the title screen.

And yeah, she's also stuck as a lifeless being trapped inside the lost pyramid for seemingly eternity.

So perhaps the Diva did something similar. Did a deal with the devil (or an equivalent, since there are tons in the Mario/Wario universe), and ended up killing the entire kingdom in the process. It'd certainly explain why the levels feel deserted apart from monsters.

It might even explain the lack of humans in the setting as well. There obvious are some now, but it seems like there were a lot more back in the olden days (as you can see in games like Luigi's Mansion). Well, maybe they just went mostly extinct after the kingdom Shokora used to rule collapsed and ended up abandoned. Perhaps that was even more modern than much of the Mushroom Kingdom is now.

So yeah, is it an interesting thing? I know it's a slightly crazy one, but I guess it could explain quite a few things about Wario Land 4...

Sounds credible, but there are some holes in your theory:

The Golden Diva is female, so that would make her queen.
The story above says the pyramid sank in the sand. The Golden Pyramid in WL4 is above the ground, in a jungle.

The first one was mentioned. Said that she's in a similar situation, not that the prophecy from Master of Disguise applied exactly to this game as well. Replace king with queen for this version.

For the pyramid... well, nothing says it didn't initially end up below the ground. Would certainly explain how no one ever found it till just before the game started. Or I guess, it's again, just a minor difference.

Maybe they just ripped it off from Wario Land 4. Wouldn't be the only thing they ripped off....
