Nintendo uses its own staff to voice characters and cut costs?

I've heard NOA has a reputation for cheap AV work, but I don't think this is particularly unique to them??? Most Japanese gaems from the 5 and 6th generation were likely to use nobodies or VAs from the same pool of (not very good) english speakers located in Japan, while western games more tended to use experienced VAs or celebs if the game had extensive voice acting.

It seems they're taking this more seriously as of this gen, though? Kid Icarus Uprising and Fire Emblem Awakening feature plently of Big Names anime VAs (well, as big as an anime VA can be anyway).

I know Rare did stuff like that. They didn't even bring back the Star Fox 64 cast for Star Fox Adventures...though I'm not complaining, because I really think Steve Malpass was the best voice actor Fox ever had.

Though I'm still glad we got Mike West back for the upcoming game(s).
