I always thought that it was supposed to be the opposite of Mario's eyes-- he has a blue ring around his pupil with the white encroaching it, Wario has white with blue surrounding it. In other words, the blue and white (sort of) switch places -

Truth! However the only reason I dislike the switch 2 is the price hikes. If I wanna get games I want them to be affordable. But unfortunately tarrifs and greed have caused the price hikes to happen to begin with -
