What happened to WarioWare, Inc. - the company itself?

No, not the series. But the very eponymous company that Wario runs itself.

We did see it established in the first game, and how everyone else was annoyed at how they don't get any pay for it as Wario kept it all for himself. But after a while, that seems to have disappeared. WW Inc. as a company isn't even acknowledged in the later games as much anymore. Not even the others feel like they're a part of it anymore.

And where did Wario's office go? He's just in a small, simple house now.

Didn't WarioWare DIY have the company split up? According to Mario Wiki:

Sometime prior to the event of the games, several WarioWare Inc. employees left the company to work for competitor Diamond Software, causing Wario to hire the player as a game creator.

So at some point, the company split into two. Diamond Software with these employees:

  • Mona
  • Jimmy T
  • Ashley
  • 9-Volt
  • Orbulon

And WarioWare Inc with:

  • Wario
  • Kat and Ana
  • Dribble and Spitz
  • 18 Volt

It also says Diamond City is run by Manager Joe, as well as giving this line about its formation:

VROOM: Just heard a rumor that Jimmy T. and Mona of Diamond Software used to work at WarioWare, Inc.!

: for real? why'd they leave? was there a big fight? lol

D.I.Why: I heard Wario never did any work! I hear he's up to something now, though…

So yeah, the company fell apart after Wario never paid anyone and a bunch of employees left for a competitor. Dunno about Wario's house/office though.

Oh yeah, I remember that lead some people to actually believe that the series would be over.

But even in the games between the original and DIY, the company was hardly even there either.

And what happened when it came to Game & Wario though? Odd.

Maybe Wario had a competition or something to get the games. Like, he promised he'd pay the winner for their entry but didn't.

Then just took everyone's work, packaged it up and sold it at retail.

He is a bit of a con artist after all...

WarioWare most likely went bankrupt sometime between DIY and Game & Wario. That can explain why Wario is so desperately looking for new employees for his company that is falling apart. And why Game & Wario doesn't have microgames.

This is basically what happened to it in recent years. (From Warioware D.I.Y)
How did it go from huge like in the first game to small like this is another question altogether though?
Of course you can bring up the whole D.I.Y storyline where a bunch of his employees left the company, but that really doesn't explain why the HQ was downsized so much, maybe the team got kicked out and were forced to move to a smaller building because Wario didn't pay the rent after the first game? or something like that?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
