So apparently a lost Paper Mario Sticker Star trailer was found.

Putting the DZ back in Diamond Zity
Diamond City Insider
This was found about a month ago from what I could gather. I feel like it really has a Paper Mario 64 vibe to it. I played a lot of Sticker Star as a kid and it feels pretty cool to see this.

Anyways, toughts ?
Sticker Star slander shall not be tolarated in this thread

I might be misremembering but I don't think this was exactly "lost" I think it was previously only viewable on the 3DS.

Interesting to see and seems better than what we ended up getting but I still see glimpses of things I'd dislike from later Paper Mario games. The sticker system seems like it was there from the beginning so that didn't really change. It also still suffers from the bland NSMB-ization the series was going through at the time.

I've definetely seen screenshots but never the full video. All videos I've seen relating to the trailer were uploaded at most 4 weeks ago so I assumed it was just found recently. Also the description of the video said this so I kinda too their words fot it.
After 14 years, you can finally watch the Paper Mario 3DS trailer in all it's glory.
Enjoy and thanks for watching!

I don't know if it would have been better than the original exactly. Sure, the TTYD fans would have found it more tolarable but then it would have been just a worse vesrion of TTYD and 64 I think. At least the final game gets credit for having tried something new with the world map and sticker system, no matter how flawed they may be, it's still a completely seperate experience from original duology.

I'll commend them for trying something different but I personally was just not a fan of it. Different doesn't always mean better though it does look like they were able to build upon the concepts and make the later games into something that more people enjoyed. Admittedly though I've been pretty checked out of the Paper Mario series for a while now as the direction it's been heading in just doesn't scratch the itch that the original games had so that's my own bias.

Yeah, I agree that trying to be original doesn't always mean it's good. Though I do think Sticker Star has some fun elements to it. Looking at TTYD, it starts to become obvious that the developpers running out of ideas sometimes from Chapter themes, badges and partners were extremely similar to the fisrt game. Obviously they approved upon things but the game remain really interchangeable, you don't really have a reason to play TTYD when you prefer 64 and vice-versa. If they were to make another game like those, I'm afraid it'll just be a worse version of both games. That's why I'm hoping for the Paper Mario series to continue changing formulas.

I never put much thought to it until now but it's a shame to see the little bullshit preview vids from the shop be unviewable. The inspirational punch out mr dream trailer is no more.
