What are some of your favourite video game soundtracks and why?

For me, I feel like Paper Mario: The Origami King and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door are up there, as is Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. Don't think I can recall a single bad song in those games, though the Antasma Battle theme still lives rent free in my head:



But what are some of your favourite soundtracks?
 
Now that I'm nearing the end of Dream Team, I agree that is has the best soundtrack of the series. Much more emotionally resonant than what came before! There was one track I completely forgot about that was a particular highlight (spoiled since it is very endgame and worth the reveal)


Outside of that, a few other game-wide highlights that come to mind are Stretch Panic, Rayman 3, and Mad Rat Dead. I've got the funk, so to speak.
 
Sonic CD and Super Mario Galaxy are my favorites. Other ones include Knuckles' Chaotix, Sonic 3D Blast (both version) and probably a few others I'm not thinking about right now.
 
I love all of this game soundtrack, I'm gonna post the boss one because it's my favorite regular boss theme of any game:



Also this one, despite just being used just for a bonus area I think it shows off a lot of what the game soundtrack is capable of, it's so peaceful and magical in almost an surreal kind of way

I don't know how uncommon this taste is but F-Zero X is the only one I care for, and one of the major reasons is the soundtrack
 

The Leviathan music made me feel the actual thread behind it. Granted, is non a conventional fight and might not be hyper action based and was a bit of a pain in the ass to be flying around and moving around while the static enemy was there, but the music really adds to both the stakes and its prescence.


This Fiend theme really made you feel the title. It makes you see the enemy you have in front of you and go into battle with it with honour. It was as if two adversaries look at each other and even knowing one of them was not going to get out of it alive, it would be something to remember.
