I have a bad habit of leaving my wallet/phone in my car and then thinking I've lost them

You and me both. In fact, generally speaking, I think I lost something...and then it turns out it was in front of me the whole time. My usual response is "No wonder I couldn't find it! It's right there in front of me!"

Just leave your wallet with me. I'll take good care of it.

I have that problem with my keys, except in my case they always end up lost in a random section of my purse.
