Did you forget to save? Because that's why I thank developers for autosave.

I know that feeling all too well my friend.

It's even worse when you end up corrupting it by accident. because you accidentally turned your system off or removed the memory card before it was done saving. (Thank god, we don't have to deal with Memory Cards anymore most of the time.)
